Rotary's Centennial Bandstand

Jamie Tripp and Bob Campbell reported that there was one more hurdle to jump - a meeting with the accessibility committee of the Town, and they promised to bring forward a recommendation that the area should be made more accessible, because there's going to be a bandstand there. Council has supported the move and there will be one more reading of the by-law.
Don Gordon has donated all the block necessary and, Jamie says, all the members have volunteered to lay block evenings through June, so get in shape.
Bob and his friends with heavy equipment will be preparing the ground.
The concrete surface will be impressed with the Rotary logo, which will be visible from up the hill, and other signs will advertise the Club's contribution.
With enough donations, llike Don's, and sufficient volunteer labour, there should be a surplus for improvements later.
The roof has been postponed as too expensive and, in fact, the location is well shaded by the mature trees.
The design has a ramp for wheeled access which will have a railing, but the surface itself is low enough that it will not need a rail, which will make for a cleaner look. The way the hill slopes, a viewer will onlly have to be about 10 feet from the stage to be on a level with it and then people further up the slope will have an unencumbered view.
