Our Kiwi Visitor

Barry spoke again about the exchange program. He said it was a major commitment in money and time but that it was a great opportunity for both the visitor and the hosts. This is the first time he and his wife Cindy have hosted a student and already, he said, they feel they have gained from the experience. He encouraged everyone to make an effort to include Tracey in activities for the benefit of all.
Tracey Parkes, the Club's exchange student from New Zealand, gave a slide show highlighting the major cities and physical features of her home country. Any one who has ever seen any pictures of New Zealand knows how beautiful it is and what a variety of geological forces there are there.
She comes from the Napier area, which is on the east side of the north island and which was devastated by an earthquake in 1931. She and her parents and sister and two cats live in a suburb called Tanadale which is surrounded by vineyards. Her grandparents live nearby as well and she hopes to see them when they visit relatives in B.C. this summer.
Tracey is a member of the St. John's Ambulance and the Science Club.
Her father works in tourism and she has had the opportunity to travel extensively around NZ with him and she is looking forward to the same opportunity here. She declares she is ready to try anything but is looking forward especially to travelling across the country in the summer.
