Karate Kids!
Jerry introduced Debbie Dusomes who, he declared, is indespensible to the successful operation of the Midland Remax office. She spoke about her daughter's experience in karate. She feels the discipline had developed Jessica's self confidence, her patience in work and play, and, of course, her ability to defend herself. There have been sacrifices in terms of social life when she has spent time training and traveling but she has met lots of different people and had great experiences.
Doug spoke about Stephanie and her many accomplishments through dedication, her physical effort and the joys and sorrows of setbacks and victories.
Both have Black Belts, both are competing in the Nationals in Newfoundland, Stephanie will be going to the US Open in Las Vegas and to the Worlds in Japan in September. Both have maintained excellent grades throughout.
Stephanie and Jessica demonstrated a series of exercises separately, then went through a series of blows and blocks that they showed us slowly at first and then at fighting speed. They gave a running commentary on the strategies, the scoring, and the demands of competition.
Jerry and Ralph were volunteered to act as targets and the two held their hands at various positions, none of which were safe. The young ladies managed to kick them wherever they were held.
The two are obviously very confident of their abilities, they are exemplars of their sport and the pride of their parents is well placed.
The Club wishes them both all the best in their future competitions and expects we will be hearing a lot about them.
