Donny Woods' Classification

President Mike introduced Don who has been attending since the spring. He commented on Don's enthusiastic contributions to the Club.
Don is 29 and local, born and raised in Elmvale. His father moved up from Guelph and met his mother at Little Lake. He opened a tool and supply store in Elmvale and they all lived over the store at first. Then construction of the dream house and, a week before they moved in, fire destroyed everything except the deck. And, the Elmvale fire department maintained its perfect record - they still haven't lost a foundation.
We were treated to a series of pictures of Don 'getting cuter', a highlight being him in his Beaver uniform.
Don went to Georgian for automotive and was valedictorian and then went to Northwood University in Texas. More pictures - Don and a crew of Canucks Honky Tonking and then working on a Habitat for Humanity project. Don had an image for all of us - a fat guy in 100 degrees and high humidity putting in insulation. Unfortunately he had a picture to illustrate this.
In Jan. 1987 his Dad and Uncle opened a used car and marine sales outfit. In 1999 they joined the Bombardier line. The store had been in a couple of locations but is now on highway 12. Don, in the meantime, spent some time travelling in lubricants and then marine sales but his Dad wanted to get back to Elmvale so Don bought him out and Factory Sports has doubled in sales to 4.5 mill. They have 9 people they have invested time to train. Don looks after parts, but helps out in sales when needed.
Factory Sports supports the community - sponsors the Kelly Shires Snow Run, a hockey team, the Georgian Bay Snow Riders, minor lacrosse, Elmvale Figure Skating and a couple of other things he can't remember. On April 9, 2003 he got married - 'she fell in love with me, what could I do?" - and they've taken a couple of trips with Bombardier to Europe - France, Italy, Switzerland and a couple of other countries he couldn't remember - and to Acapulco.
This summer he became the proud father of Caiden William Woods who is, apparently, the second cutest baby ever. I can't remember who was first.
He loves racing. He follows NASCAR - he's been to Charlotte and Daytona and some more tracks that he fails to recollect - and has a stock machine himself - "robin's egg blue because it lets chicks think I'm sensitive" - and Factory Sport supports a Snowcross team. They've won championships but the team they're fielding this year will be a little smaller, though they still expect to do well.
He gets out to BC to snowmobile the peaks - Whistler and a couple of others he can't remember.
He and his buds formed the Century Club as an excuse to get together and drink - a shot of beer every minute for 90 minutes. "It might seem like a lot and it is." But it's turned into a fund raiser and they give several thousand back to Elmvale every year - to the ball diamond and a few other causes he can't remember.
Arnold thanked Don for his presentation and he thanked him especially for saying yes to joining the club - he appreciatted Don's enthusiasm and energy.
