Ralph thanked the Board for its hard work during the year.
In Alison's absence he read her report. Alison has arranged to have coverage of LG Onley's visit, the Party on the Dock donations, of Youth Exchange which resulted in increased interest and more candidates, the Gilda's Club donation, the article on the GSE, the Vocational Service Award, the Inbound weekend, an article on Anna and Thomas, Hamper Night and the full page coverage of Student of the Month in that day's Free Press.
Phil, as President Elect, reported that the Club had made two Vocational Visits and another is in the works, there has been progression towards next year's Board, that several large projects are being reviewed for presentation to the membership,and the Learning Academy.
Vocational Chair, Fred, reported that the Student of the Month program is going very well, thanks to Sue. October was Vocational Service month and we hosted the most positive GSE ever, thanks to Hank, had several mini classifications, a Rotary Quiz, presented a Vocational Service Award and have been hosting a very successful Youth Exchange thanks to Barry who is doing very well with this challenging task with some help from Alison. Adventures in High Tech sent 2 students to Ottawa, Adventures in Tourism sent 2 to the Bell Club, Adventures in Citizenship had 2 more going to Ottawa. RYLA will have two in the spring and there will be the Graduating Scholarships in June.
Jamie Tripp reports the Membership Committee continues efforts at recruitment and is working on maintaining and educating members through the College of Knowledge. There will be a 'bring a prospect' event on Feb. 24 with special speakers.
Patricia reported for Club and said the End of Polio campaign will be hosting an event around Feb. 23, and a social night of bowling with the Penetang Club is being organized.
Ron, for Community, said support had been given to Angels with Backpacks, St. Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army, the MSS student's trip to Europe, and the Trail. The Committee is planning ahead for proceeds from the Party on the Dock and recommends $14,000.00 go to CLH, $12,000.00 to the Hospital and a minimum of $25,000.00 to the Library project. A vote will be held on this next week.
Neil said International's budget had $6,000.00 each for Polio Plus and Polio Partners and that Polio is now appearing in only 3 countries. Work continues at Temi, Georgia and a solar water heater is being installed at $4,000.00. Two shelter boxes have been contributed to Haiti. Further research is being done on a long term project. He asked everybody to consider looking at CBC's list of charities that are helping Haiti. He is happy to say that the Salvation Army orphanage, though damaged, saw no deaths.
