Club Assembly

Joyce asked each Committee Chair to make a brief report to the Club.
Rod, for Membership, reported the Club has inducted 5 new members. There have been a few departures, too, and his Committee has started an 'exit interview' process.
He regreted to announce that Ken MacDonald has resigned mostly due to work pressure but also because he felt his contribution had been lacking and he wanted to make room for someone with more enthusiasm.
Jim Feheley has also left the Club, but only to join the Penetang one, so he's still in Rotary.
Rod suggested holding another membership meeting when prospective members are invited and an introduction to the Club is presented. He also said his Committee would welcome suggestions for new members. If you think someone would be good but don't know them well enough yourself, mention it to Rod. His Committee will make the approach.
Owen is the Treasurer but he hopes to find someone to take over next year.
You get to hand out the invoices - and one is coming next week. The Board is looking at arranging to pay fees with credit cards, but there are some complications.

Yvonne is co-Chair with Terry of the Club Admin Committee. She reported that the Christmas Party would be the same as last year. 100 hampers would be prepared, there'd be a Potluck dinner and it will be at the same place. It will be on the 13th, though. The Hall will be free this year - management there thought it was a good project and made the offer. The food's from IGA again. There was some confusion as to numbers last year so she'll be looking for a few people to come out early and do some counting.
There'll be a bowling party in the Spring and a Lobster Dinner too. In the summer there's a Hope Island Boat In and Work Party at the Lighthouse.
Ron spoke on Community Service. The budget is $30,000.00, not including the grant to the Reading Council. They have donated $2,500.00 to the Committee for Emergency Response, $1,000.00 to supplement the Salvation Army food bank and funds to supplement federal money for a special wheelchair.
The Committee and the Board have approved a $7,000.00 grant to the Able Sail Programme for disabled sailors which will permit them to buy a third boat. These need to be imported because they're specially equipped. This will be fully funded by Rotary and there will be ID on it to recognize that and, if this group closes, the Club can decide where the boat goes.
He notified the Club that the Committee will be bringing this matter for a vote by the membership at the regular meeting on the 25th.
Lois reported for International Service. Their budget is $40,000.00 of which $10,500.00 will be given to Polio Plus because the Club made no contribution last year.
She said there are still ongoing problems in Tblisi. She has heard that the required documents have been signed and have been forwarded to Cyprus, but she's not positive.
The Committee gave $1,500.00 to support Shirley Trudeau's medical missions and $1,100.00 to Jessica Wiley, a pediatrician who took some medical packs to Zambia.
Janice, for Vocational, said not to forget the tour of Doral next week. Duncan Strathearn is going to the Adventures in High Technology program in Ottawa next week and will report back to the Committee. There was a special assembly at MSS today to discuss the foreign exchange program and there's still time to get a name in - but not much.
Alison, as President Elect, said to watch for the return of the attendance police and that next year's Board has to be selected by December so if you're interested - let her know.
