At Tuesday's meeting 35 Rotarians attended = 70%. Honorary Rotarian John Reid attended and guests were visiting Rotarian Ray Henry (RC Darwin), Club guests PDG Andrew Suggett (Chairman Rotary House Project), James Metham and Steve Giddens, and Member's guest, Bob Bowman.

Next Week's AGM - Tuesday 12 November
This AGM will be a fund raiser for the Camp Quality hut. President John Hunt will provide the meat and Rotarians are asked to provide a slice or salad. Cost $20. John's address is 82 Wollaston Road, Warrnambool.
Rotarian Michael Boyd encouraged members to think of a young person who would benefit by the opportunity to attend RYLA on 13-18 April 2014. This is a great opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills and personal development. Applicants to be 18-25 years old. Applications should be in by December. $450 cost for food and accommodation and will be held at Kangaroobie.
Rotary House Opening - 22nd November
PDG Andrew Suggett advised that the official opening of Rotary House will be on Friday 22 November at 1:30pm and all are welcome to attend. On behalf of the Rotary House Committee Andrew presented Rotarian Tony Austin with a Rotary House Companion in appreciation of all his work and commitment to the Rotary House Project. Well done Tony.
Working Bee - Thursday 14 November
Remember there is a working bee at Anne Adams' garden on Thursday 14 November starting at 10am. The following people have put their hands up to help: Tony Austin, Ian Sadler, Judy and Phillip Ross, Robin Konigson, John Nisbet, Ron Bishop, Jim Hanrahan, Rob McNally and Fabio. More helpers are needed and if you can come please let John Harris or Tony Austin know so they can let Anne know as she has generously offered to provide lunch and will need to know numbers for catering purposes.

The Rotary Club of Geelong is a foundation supporter of the Sariri Village project and one of the ways they raise funds for the project each year is by selling Christmas goodies. The Tin Shed Singers present "Show that Mo!" on Friday 15 November at the Mozart Hall at 7:30 pm. Inner Wheel Garden Party Update
Kaye Slater advised that despite the rain they recieved a very good response to the garden party, raising a total of $4,885 from which expenses of around $450 will be deducted. Two thirds of the funds raised will go to Peter's Project and one third to Inner Wheel and local charities. Kaye thanked all who had some sort of input to the day.
Inner Wheel Christmas Gift Wrapping
Kaye Slater also advised that they have been allocated 1 week at K-mart and 10 days at Target to do Christmas gift wrapping and invited anyone wishing to participate to let her know. Last year this activity raised $5,000 which went to Rotary House.
Rotarian John Harris was interviewed by President John Hunt on the topic of his 40 years work at Wannon Water. One of the advantages of John's long career was seeing all the changes and improvements over the years, some of which were taking the water function from loal government and creating the water authorities; new regulations with water being considered a food and therefore needing to be compliant with the Hassett Plan; internet and computers have brought massive technologial changes; the introduction of the desalination plant and answering the tricky question of 'how would you sell recycled waste' to the public. The interview was informative and interesting. president John closed by complimenting John on his involvement in Rotary both at Club and District level, his involvement as Group Exchange Leader, on Youth Exchange Committee, Assistant Governor Youth Services and also his involvement as a Warrnambool City Councillor and in general, being held in very high regard by all who know him.
Rotary Club of Warrnambool - Annual General Meeting - 19 November 2013
In accordance with the provisions of the Club’s By-Laws, one month’s notice is given that the Annual General Meeting and Election of Office-Bearers will be held during the Club’s meeting scheduled for Tuesday 19th November, 2013. Prior to the AGM the Club will be seeking nominations to fill vacancies of President-Elect 2015-2016; Vice-President 2014-2015; Secretary 2014-2015; Treasurer 2014-2015, and 4 Vacancies of Director 2014-2016 [2years]. RWC is pleased to announce that it is sponsoring Ritu Akter from Bangladesh through the Salvation Army Child Sponsorship Program. Ritu is 7 years old and attends the Jessore School for the Hearing Impaired in Bangladesh. Ritu lives with her parents, brother and sister in a tiny home. Her father is a rickshaw puller and the family income is small and not reliable. Ritu is a quiet, polite and very bright girl who loves going to school. She was born healthy but developed hearing problems after a severe case of chicken pox. She attends the Salvation Army School for Hearing Impaired Children where she can learn skills that will help her compete in a hearing world. Ritu loves skipping games and her amibtion is to be a tailor. Our Club's sponsorship will assist with education, food and basic medical care.
2014 Warrnambool Australia Day Awards

Nominations are invited for the 2014 Australia Day Awards which are presented annually to citizens and/or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the community. The awards will be presented on Australia Day, 26 January 2014 at the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens representing the following categories:
– Warrnambool Australia Day Citizen of the Year.
– Warrnambool Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year.
– Warrnambool Australia Day Community Event of the Year.
– Warrnambool Local Achiever Award.

The Rotary International 2014 Convention is being held in Sydney from 1st to 4th June 2014 and the venue for this event is the Sydney Olympic Centre (the convention centre is being demolished).
Early bird registrations close on 15th December 2013, after this date, registration fees increase the closer to the event.
This is a great opportunity to witness the true internationality of Rotary and to see what Rotary is doing all over the world.
The last time the Convention was in Australia, it was held in Melbourne back in the 1990’s and 15,000 people attended from all over the world, it was held at Rod Laver Area and PP Eric Williams was able to secure for us, accommodation in Swanston Street, within walking distance of the venue.
Sydney is a city known all over the world and is expected to draw as many as the Melbourne held convention. Registrations are beginning to flood in and the demand for accommodation is increasing.
For those who haven’t been to a Rotary International Convention before, it offers an insight into the real world of Rotary and its work all over the world. It will provide the opportunity to meet and mix with people from all over the world as well as key people within the Rotary circles, including RI Directors, past RI Presidents, the General Secretary and Trustees of The Rotary Foundation.
Could I recommend this convention to those who have not attended a convention before, it is a way of learning about the international organisation to which you belong, its work and its many many humanitarian and educational programs as well as enjoying the friendship of Rotarians and spouses of the world?
It is in Sydney and it is on our back door step. You may never have a better opportunity to attend a convention without the expense and trauma of overseas travel.
