This film is inspired by true events. A 2016 British-American biographical sports drama/comedy film. The film stars Taron Edgerton as Eddie "The Eagle” Edwards, a British skier who in 1988 became the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. Rotary Club of Port Fairy Annual Trivia Night - Monday 18 April
At the Star of the West from 6:30 pm. More details to follow, so start forming your tables of six in readiness to register your team. The night includes a 2-course meal at the Star of the West and involves 6 rounds of questions set by their trivia guru, Pauline McDonald. It is a great fun night and all profits go to Rotary community projects. Come along and try to knock off last year's runaway winners from the CWA!
District Governor 2018-2019
PDG Brian Trenery announced that following interviews for District Governor 2018-19, the successful applicant is Past President Anthony Ohlsen of the Rotary Club of Maryborough Inc. Anthony comes from a management background in Government water supplies. He has been a Rotarian for more than 20 years and has served his club as President, Secretary, Chair of Youth, Community, Fund Raising and Membership. At District level Anthony has been a member of the GSE, Alumni, Rotary Friendship Exchange Committees, Conference Treasurer and Assistant Governor.
He and his wife Kerrie have participated in three Friendship Exchanges including India and Mid-west USA. They have also hosted exchange students and GSE Team members.
We congratulate Anthony and look forward to his leadership during 2018-19.
ANZAC Service Meeting Tuesday April 19
At our club meeting on Tuesday 19 we will have a guest speaker to convey a message appropriate to Anzac commemorations. Our guest will be Professor Dr Geoffrey Qual OAM who has carried out extensive research, both in Australia and the UK, on the Gallipoli campaign. Geoffrey's research presents a troubling new dimension to the cause of the high death rate in a campaign where the death toll stunned Australia.
This will be a partners night and members are asked to wear an Anzac Badge which they may have.
Combined local Rotary Clubs are invited to join the Rotary Club of Warrnambool Daybreak for the annual Warrnambool Race Day meeting.
