District Conference in Bordertown: Brian Trenery reported on the District Conference in Bordertown, including an overview on the topics covered by speakers as well as election results. He presented President John Hunt with a Rotary Foundation award. Fabio raised $760 for his "Another Brick in the Wall" fund raiser. The total raised by Exchange Students was $3,000.
Framlingham 150th Celebration: Anne Adams thanked Graeme Ross and Keith McLeod who worked at this event.
Club's Bylaws and Rules: At a meeting on 6 May a resolution will be presented to substitute new bylaws and rules in place of the present ones. These are being circulated to members.
Interplast Surgeon, Ian Holten, will be the guest speaker at Port Fairy's meeting on 28 April - see flyer below.
The Science & Engineering Challenge is set for Tuesday 17 June at Sherwood Park. Eight schools will be involved and it is run to encourage year 10 students to think about science and engineering as a career option in years 11 and 12. Students work in teams trying to solve engineering problems. The cost of running the day is $6000 and the equipment comes from the University of Newcastle.

Oxfam Walk: John Nisbet reported that he participated in the Oxfam Walk on Sunday and our Club donated $300, plus further donations given by members on the night.
Father of the Year: Arrangements for this event have commenced and Ian Cairns called for volunteers from the Club to be part of the Committee.
Dinner Auction Collections: Items for collection are due on 22 April. Please bring them along to the next meeting or drop them off at Roy Slater's shed (at home, not work).
District Assembly Bus: Marie Bennett asked for members to let her know who will require bus transport to the District Assembly in Stawell on 4 May.
President John Hunt welcomed everyone to the meeting including Isobel Siebel, a guest of Anne Adams. John Reid is still at SJOG hospital and can have short visits only.
President John Hunt conducted a very interesting interview with Roy Slater. Roy disclosed that he had always been mechanically minded and had been encouraged by various teachers. He was apprenticed to Jack Morse and won 3 awards from his Club. Roy worked for a number of employers, including Bamstone, International Harvesters and Goodalls. He then decided to start his own business, R. A. Slater Engineering, which deals with engineering repairs, including pumps for farmers and Wannon Water. He has also made parts for musical instruments. Roy has been heavily involved in motor sports and has a long association with Premier Speedway. He has helped build sprint cars and transporters and still rides a motor bike for leisure. Roy is a proud grandfather and announced the recent arrival of identical twin grand-daughters.
Imitation Gold: All measurements by weight. 16 parts platina, 9 parts pure copper, 4 parts sheet zinc, 7 parts block tin, 6 parts pure lead. Melt and mix thoroughly together. If this alloy is found to be too hard, remelt it with a little sal ammoniac.
