Chairman Duncan Stalker introduced Fred Chatfield who has kindly stepped in at the last moment when our guests speakers were unable to come.

Secretary of the RSL - voluntary capacity. Handles the welfare to returned personnel. Very involved in Killarney Cricket Club.

This year is the Centenary of the Warrnambool RSL. Renovations have been completed - few finishing touches to go including signage. Pleased to include a permanent structure underneath for our support to veterans and their families. 70 volunteers registered with RSL in a great range of services. Our Veteran Support Centre received 91 calls during October for support to our Veteran community.

Dan Tehan has agreed to launch a book on Thursday November 22nd. Written by Avis Quarel - History of Warrnambool RSL.

Significant events:

Reg Saunders Medal Collection to be unveiled 25th November, 2017.

Development of new Memorial Wall to commence. Planning well underway. The new memorial will commemorate all those who have served from the city of Warrnambool and Moyne Shire in all wars since WW1. It includes those who enlisted from Warrnambool but also those who enlisted elsewhere but settled in Warrnambool for more than 20 years following their return from war (Though the 20 year time requirement will not apply to more recent events). Fundraising continues through a number of avenues - Government and Non-Government grants, Sponsorship of Pavers, and other fundraising opportunities as they arise.

The Standard has published a supplement in the past week which lists the names of those already identified as eligible to be included in the new memorial. There are forms available to alter or add names if errors are noticed.

Official opening will be November 2018.

Duncan thanked Fred for his talk and presented him with a certificate commemorating his talk and the donation, on his behalf, of a mosquito net to a family in PNG.

Trevor wished Terry a happy 60th birthday, and Anne who also celebrates a birthday.
