Welcome back to Rotary for 2018. We've certainly started the year with a BANG! as we were joined by Rotary Daybreak at the Warrnambool Gun Club. Quite a few members took the opportunity to have a go at shooting with a few proving a better shot than others. Sergeant-at-arms Ian Cairns welcomed everyone and introduced President Trevor Williams. Trevor wished everyone a Happy New Year. Trevor noted that Phillip and Judy Ross and Robyn Blackmore had been enjoying the festivities of the holiday season at the Carnival last Friday night. They were spotted driving the dodgem cars. Rotary Club of Daybreak, and guests from East, were also welcomed and Jan Read (Daybreak) gave a greeting. Ian thanked Tony Austin for organizing the meal for the night. Mal Price expressed thanks to the Warrnambool Gun Club for allowing us access tonight, as well as the coaches who volunteered there time for this evening. Thanks also to Chris and Jodie Preston for the idea. 3 shooting disciplines were available for the evening - Skeet, Down-the-Line, and Simulated Field Targets. Mal gave a safety briefing and then Rotarians 'let-fire' under the capable supervision of Gun Club Coaches. Thank you to Mal Price for organizing the evening and ensuring everyone received an appropriate safety briefing. Everyone went home with all appendages intact, thankfully. (Although there was a whisper that this may have been more good fortune than good practice for at least one member.) |
