ROTARY FOUNDATION

 
Richard Hawker, Brian Trenery and Mary Fitzgerald gave an informative presentation on the history, grants and examples of the work the Rotary Foundation has provided assistance to since its inception in 1917. The Mission of the Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. This support is essential to make possible Foundation grant-funded projects that bring sustainable improvement to communities in need.
 
The Foundation's Goals are:
  1. Eradicate polio, top priority
  2. Build a sense of ownership of the Foundation among Rotarians through their contributions to the Annual Programs Fund, the Permanent Fund, and the Rotary Peace Centres
