Sunday September 11th was marked as a “Day of Service” and BEL Rotary stepped up to the task. Rotarians, family members and volunteers met at Rotary Park to “clean up”, garden and provide maintenance to the park and boat ramp. The youngest volunteer was 4 and the oldest 74! As part of the effort, the invasive shrubs along the road were cut down to create a habitat for pollinators to over winter. In the spring the garden will be planted with indigenous species designed to attract bees and pollinating insects and to also be a feeding area for the monarch butterfly.
