“Heroes don’t always wear capes”. How true these words are. For the past four months our local heroes have been the men and women working on the front line to keep our community going. This of
course includes our health professionals and support workers who have worked tirelessly to provide care to the most vulnerable members of our community.

The BEL Rotary Club has been working to respond to the needs in our community and also recognize those who have gone above and beyond during this difficult time.

Last week, BEL Rotary in partnership with the Chocolate Rabbit in Lakefield delivered a treat of chocolate and wine to the staff and residents of Extendicare Lakefield. “Staff in our long term care facilitates have given of themselves from the beginning”, said BEL President Tony Davidson. “They have provided care to our loved ones and comfort when family members and friends are unable to visit”.

There was something for the residents as well. “Our seniors are one of our most treasured demographics and this has been a difficult time for them. We just wanted them to know that we are thinking about them”, said Davidson.

BEL Rotary is continuing to find ways to support the community during this difficult time. If you or anyone you know needs support please contact a BEL Rotarian. For more about the work of BEL Rotary,
