BEL Rotarians found their "inner child" and shared purchases made for families in our community,
to provide the gift of Christmas.

For some families in our community the joy that many of us associate with the Christmas season is tarnished by financial demands and stretched budgets.  Many families live below the poverty line.  Many others have modest incomes and have to make difficult decisions at this time of year: do they buy presents for their children or do they put food on the table?

One of the joys of the season is “giving”.  Members of the Rotary Club of Bridgenorth- Ennismore-Lakefield (BEL) stepped up to the challenge and adopted eight families from Chemong, Ridpath, St Paul Lakefield, St Martins and Lakefield Intermediate Schools.  With input from the schools, Rotarians purchased toys, books and clothing, specific to the interests and needs of the children.  An e-reader was also included for each family.  Spirit was high at the Monday night meeting when the Rotarians found their “inner child” and shared their purchases.

“Many of us enjoy the luxury of providing Christmas “with all the trimmings” for our families” said President Tony, “this is one small way we can extend this feeling to members of our community who are not so fortunate”.

It is thanks to the generosity of our community partners and sponsors that the BEL Club is able to take on projects such as this.  On behalf of BEL Rotary, a happy and safe holiday season and the best of 2017 and a heart-felt thank you for all of your support.
