The Rocks and Rings Floor Curl program introduces elementary school children to the national pass time and Olympic sport of curling.  BEL Rotary provided children at St Paul Lakefield and Ridpath Elementary Schools with the opportunity to work with Whitney Boles from Curl Canada Rocks and Rings and also provided equipment to the schools so the program can become part of the physical education curriculum.

In partnership with Curling Canada, the Rocks & Rings Floor Curl program is designed to introduce the national pass time and Olympic sport of curling to elementary school children. By bringing the curling rink to the school gym through Floor Curl, children are reached who may not otherwise have access to the game.

The BEL Rotary Club has sponsored the Rocks and Rings program in two local schools, St Paul Catholic School, Lakefield and Lakefield District Public School (Ridpath).  The BEL Rotary Club provided the equipment as well as a full day of instruction for each school. The enthusiasm of the students in all grades was contagious as they had the opportunity to work with Whitney Boles from Curl Canada Rocks and Rings along with Rotary Volunteers to get a taste of the sport of curling.  The new Floor Curl equipment will stay at each school so the sport can be part of each school’s regular curriculum.
