The Rotary Foundation: The goal is simple "to do good in the world". The impact is great.
November is Rotary Foundation month. The mission of the Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty. The Rotary Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International’s sixth President Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment for Rotary. Quite simply the goal was “to do good in the world”.
BEL Rotary has long been a supporter of the Foundation and has received many district recognitions for its outstanding contributions. Members of the BEL club understand the importance of the Rotary Foundation and have helped to bring peace to many around the world through their contributions that have resulted in: clean drinking water for young parents and their children in the Honduras, books for school aged children in the Dominican Republic, furnishings for an orphanage in South Africa, thebuilding of a school in Haiti and the gift of mobility – a wheelchair – to seniors in Ecuador.
