With a ring of the Bell president Brad opening the meeting for another evening of Rotary at Chemong Lodge. With 4 guests and our exchange student Julie in attendance, Chris Tworkski walked away with the 50/50 and Reg provided the fine period.

Julie started the evenings business by providing some details as to what she has been doing over the last few weeks. Julie had spent almost two weeks in Newfoundland with the Tilley’s and a great time was had by all. On December 30th, Julie moved on to her second host family, Mike and Heather Casey.

Rotary Information

Sue Davidson provided details on the results of the money that was used to purchase hampers and toys before Christmas. 50 families we provided for in the Curve Lake area and books, toys and clothing were provided to families through Chemong Public School.

Ruth gave members of the club copies of the Lakefield Herald which features articles written by club members about the club.

Speaker – Henry Vandelinde

Bob Ash presented the speaker this evening, who just happens to be his next door neighbor. Henry is currently employed by Siemens Milltronics in Peterborough and spoke to the club about his role with the company and provided a history of the evolution of Milltronics into Siemens Milltronics. Henry holds a Ph.D in English Literature and currently holds the title(s) of Marketing Service Manager and Global training manager as well as owning his own company Wordtech Document Services.  A history of the company can be found in the link below.

Henry spoke of the work being accomplished locally and explained how technical measurement products have evolved from ultrasound based to radar based and its implications on the broader markets in Canada and overseas.

Paul Harris Fellow Award

A Paul Harris was presented to past member Andrew Parks. Andrews is currently employed as an EMS worker in Peterborough.

Announcements

On January 23rd the Chamber will be holding their “after hours” event at Chemong Lodge at 5pm. Members are encouraged to attend if able.

Polar Plunge sponsorship packages are available on the website for anyone needing one.

On Feb 16 Rotary members are invited to a “Night at the Pete’s” event. This year we will be using the skybox and the cost is $18.00 per person.

The next Board meeting will be held on January 18th at Brad’s.
