Smithtown Sunrise Rotary Celebrates a Night of Recognition, Giving, and New Leadership
– The Smithtown Sunrise Rotary Club gathered at Smithtown Landing Country Club for its annual President’s Dinner and Installation of Officers. The evening celebrated a year of service and fellowship while looking ahead to a promising new Rotary year under the theme “Unite for Good.”
The evening was filled with community pride as local officials, students, and members of partner organizations came together to honor achievements and highlight the club’s impact.
A highlight of the night was the presentation of a $1,000 donation to Paws of War, made possible through proceeds from the club’s Flags for Heroes fundraiser. The donation supports the nonprofit’s ongoing work helping veterans, first responders and rescue animals.
Awards were presented to recognize outstanding contributions:
- Paul Harris Fellow Award: Rob Lusak
- Rotary Achievement Award: Carl Superina
- Rotary Student Achievement Awards were presented to Shyla Silva, Ryan Matejka, Nick Rindfuss, and Stephen Ponce, all of Smithtown High School West, for their leadership and community involvement.
The 2025–2026 Smithtown Sunrise Rotary Board of Officers was also officially installed:

- Vice President: Vinny Puleo
- Executive Secretary: Fred Vogeney
- Treasurer: Joel Beja
- Recording Secretary: Keith Radonis
- Sergeant-at-Arms: Steve Stare
- Immediate Past President: Gary Carpenter
- Director of Community Relations: Matt Kelly
Special thanks to our honored guests, including Town Supervisor/Rotarian Ed Wehrheim, Councilman/Rotarian Tom Lohmann, Superintendent of Highways/Rotarian Rob Murphy, Suffolk County Clerk/Rotarian Vinny Puleo, and representatives from Paws of War, who joined in celebrating another successful year of Rotary service.
