Yesterday, we gathered as a community for a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony to kick off our first annual Flags for Heroes event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Smithtown Sunrise.
Over 75 American flags have been proudly displayed in honor of our local heroes—veterans, active service members, first responders, and loved ones who inspire us every day.
These flags will remain flying now through Independence Day at The Smithtown Library to serve as a powerful symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and unity.
Special thanks to United Veterans Beacon House, Paws of War, The Smithtown Library, Smithtown Parks Department, and Capital Graphics for their incredible support—and for helping make this tribute possible.

We’re proud to launch our Flags for Heroes campaign in partnership with United Veterans Beacon House and Paws of War!
This Memorial Day, honor a hero in your life—whether a veteran, active military member, police officer, firefighter, EMT, teacher, coach, or someone who’s made a lasting impact.
Sponsor a full-sized American flag to be proudly displayed at the Smithtown Library – Main Branch from Memorial Day through Flag Day. Each flag will include a medallion with your hero’s name and will serve as a powerful tribute to those who inspire, protect, and serve our communities.
