Malnutrition Matters seeks to improve nutrition in communities with higher rates of malnutrition, primarily in Asia and Africa. The primary means to provide affordable nutrient-dense foods is to empower local women entrepreneurs using simple, appropriate food technologies. Malnutrition Matters has designed and developed its own food technologies for over 20 years, always using high-quality food-grade components. Some of its systems are still operating after 15 years of service.
Malnutrition Matters has had success with over 3,000 local women entrepreneurs in 4 countries with its recent innovation, the home-based SoyaKit. The low-cost SoyaKit enables rural women to make a good profit while offering affordable, nutrient-dense foods to their community; this technology, combined with MM’s experience and focus on training and supporting women in basic micro-enterprise practices enables scalability to hundreds of thousands of women entrepreneurs.
Hart Jansson has been working at Malnutrition Matters for 20 years and currently serves as President. He has trained women entrepreneurs and implemented projects in Ghana, Liberia, India, Malawi among other countries. Hart had a 25-year career in telecoms software before beginning with Malnutrition Matters.
