Mitch Sabsabi presided 
He called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

 

George Farrow gave the invocation.
Sid Joshi led the singing of O Canada and Mitch Sabsabi proposed the toast to the King and Canada.
Mitch reported the attendance, including 2 guests (potential members).
 
After dinner the entire group heard summaries of how the club can increase membership and fellowship along with accessibility. 

 

George Farrow spoke about an opportunity to do something with the Oakville Public Library and how the club could sponsor Children’s Reading Rooms in the New Central Library. 

 

Mahendra Shah spoke about the upcoming Global Medic occurring on Saturday, January 25, 2025, to inform everyone that is interested to participate. He also spoke about the ongoing work of the Centennial Celebration Gala and mentioned the committee could use some more volunteers, please!

 

Michael Henry mentioned there will be survey sent out to members to seek input on how they want to see the club operate. There is also a fireside chat scheduled for new members on January 29, 2025, at George Farrow’s residence.

 

Mitch Sabsabi thanked Lynne Childs for volunteering to become the next Club President which was met with warm applause. 

 

Lynne Childs mentioned that $1,400 was raised at the Kettle Drive at Oakville Place.

 

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Oakville, Karen Meyer:
Our newest member was inducted, and Karen Meyer was warmly welcomed into the fellowship by everyone.

 

Karla Carbrera presented on how the club could and should form an Environmental Committee to increase its footprint as an organization that serves others. George Vincent tied this initiative to getting new members.

 

Gary Comerford collected fines and happy bucks.

 

Larry Rodrigue gave his classification talk and was warmly applauded at the end of it.
 
Mitch Sabsabi thanked everyone for their presentations and closed the meeting with a toast to Friends and Rotarians around the World.
