ABOUT ABDUL MAJID ADAM

  • Abdul Majid Adam graduated in 1969 from NED College of Engineering, Karachi (Pakistan), with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • He completed MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1971.
  • He worked in Petro Chemical Industry in the US, Saudi Arabia and China for the last 50 years.
  • Retired in September of 2020.
  • Inspired by watching a video clip in 2018 about the story of Sawan, whose three sons died from drinking contaminated water from a local pond in a small village in Pakistan, he started an initiative to provide clean water to such small villages in Pakistan. He named it “Saaf Paani” (Clean Water).
  • Launched non-profit organization Saaf Paani in 2019 which is a 501(c) (3) Corporation. Since inception in year 2019, this organization has received donation over $1.1 million and has installed over 304 plants in backward areas of Karachi and in interior rural areas of Sind province of Pakistan, serving the needs of 150,000 families on daily basis by providing 1 million gallons of Safe Water.
  • Pakistan is going thru severe drinking water crises.
  • Currently Saaf Paani’s main focus areas are slums of Karachi, interior/rural areas of Sind and Baluchistan provinces that suffer from lack of clean drinking water
  • The alumni of NED College (now University) are at the forefront for this initiative and a huge support base.
