The Rotary Club of Redcliffe Sunrise is involved in an innovative project to reduce landfill and help restore shellfish reefs in Moreton Bay.
Shucked oyster shells are collected from two local merchants, a hotel and a seafood wholesaler.
The local businesses are extremely pleased that their spent shells are not going into their skips and eventually landfill.
The shells are transported to the Redcliffe Waste Transfer Station by volunteers where they are stored in 10 wheelie bins.
When the bins are full they are transported to our partner OzFish's Oyster Recycling Centre at the Port of Brisbane.
Rotary Club of Redcliffe Sunrise volunteers are conveying a tonne or more of oyster shells each month to the recycling centre.

The Rotary Club of Redcliffe Sunrise and the ESRAG Moreton Bay Chapter is working hard with OzFish to make a change.
