The September 6th general meeting with be on Zoom only. We will not be meeting at the Billy DeFrank for this meeting.

Silicon Valley Rainbow Rotary is joining forces with the FAMA Foundation (Friends Assisting our Mexican Amigos), a Bay Area Non-Profit, to help with the building of a new school for underprivileged children in the village of Rancho Graciano Sanchez, Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, Mexico.

Most children in the village either walk two hours to the nearest school one day a week, or don’t go at all. FAMA Foundation, www.famafoundation.org, has been working with the people of the village to bring economic self-sustainability.

Projects to date include bringing fresh water and electricity to the village. The next dream is to build a school. Better Together/ Mejores Juntos is the joint project between Rainbow Rotary Club and FAMA to build a two-room classroom, for preschool and middle school. The building would be done in phases as funds are raised. Building the school is a collaborative effort. Funds that Rotary and FAMA raise will be used to purchase building materials.  The regional Mexican government will provide a teacher, uniforms and some educational materials. And most importantly, the residents of the village will provide the labor to build the school.

You can help us kick-start this project by donating to our Better Together Campaign. We hope to break ground with the concrete foundation for the school this Spring and open for the Fall 2021 school year.

Donations from individuals and companies are tax-deductible. Checks should be made payable to Rotary District 5170 Foundation and reference to SVRainbow-FAMA. Please be sure to include your mailing address and we will mail you a record of receipt.

Our Love and Friendship Talent Review was a success thanks in part to our awesome co-hosts, Cheryl and Karen. This was a free event to help raise funds for our on-going support of the New Haven LGBTQ+ homeless shelter. We are continuing to accept donations  on Venmo but if you do not have a Venmo account, please use the contact information below for other payment methods.

We’ll provide the performer’s virtual tip jars after the event in case you’d like to show your appreciation for their talents.
