Registration Christopher Breedlove is a designer, strategist, and community builder working at the intersection of impact, storytelling, and systems thinking. He currently serves as Director of Civic Activation at Burning Man Project, where he leads Burners Without Borders (BWB) and the global Regional Network. Global health leaders, parliamentarians and civil society advocates gathered at the UK House of Commons this week to reaffirm their shared commitment to finishing the job of polio eradication. Hosted by Member of Parliament Bob Blackman at the Palace of Westminster and organized in partnership with Rotary International, the event brought together representatives from government, the World Health Organization, Rotary International and the broader global health community to discuss how to sustain momentum toward a polio-free world. Opening the event, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed deep appreciation for the United Kingdom’s long-standing leadership in the global fight against polio.

Santa Clara University's Women's Basketball Team will be hosting their first Pride Night, #BroncosCare , on Thursday, January 25th at 4pm. They will be giving away away the pride SC flags you see in the image to the first 300 fans to come in. Their men's game after this and anyone who has a ticket to the women’s game can use to stick around for the men’s game as well. We will be tabling during the women's game. The recent detection of the vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 case in New York, USA, and isolates in several environmental samples collected in London are stark reminders that as long as polio exists anywhere, it is a threat everywhere. It also highlights the importance of vaccination as the only form of protection against polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases and the work that needs to be done in our communities to encourage the uptake of vaccines. Also, as the world gets closer to zero wild poliovirus cases, it is increasingly important to track all forms of the virus wherever they may appear, including in polio-free regions.

Silicon Valley is recognized as a leader in innovative and inclusive social issues, and homelessness is an epidemic in this country. Supported by the County Board of Supervisors and in collaboration with Life Moves, a unique shelter has opened in downtown San Jose that focuses on serving the LGBTQ+ population. Only second in the nation, NEW HAVEN INN receives clients through referral, and it provides a safe, warm and welcoming environment through counselors knowledgeable about the specific challenges faced by this population. Silicon Valley Rainbow Rotary supports New Haven Inn staff efforts to equip residents to restore self-sufficiency and stable housing. Rotary's dinner program brings a warm meal to house residents monthly to allow residents to interface with the community and create meaningful contacts.  Music has been an important part of leading an ordinary life for students at the Music School for Children With Disabilities in Honor of Paul Harris in Lublin, Poland. Founded by Rotary members, the school serves 20 students with various disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, and visual impairments. The Rotary Club of Lublin-Centrum-Maria Curie-Sklodowska has provided funding with help from Rotary Foundation Matching Grants and the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society, which houses the school. After their son Mateusz was born with underdeveloped eyes, Mariusz and Joanna Kania looked for ways to help him be active. When he showed an aptitude for music, they looked for a teacher and were thrilled to find the Paul Harris music school.

 Throughout India and around the world, Rotary clubs are celebrating a major milestone: India has gone three years without a new case of polio. The last reported case was a two-year-old girl in West Bengal on 13 January 2011. To mark this historic triumph, Rotary clubs illuminated landmarks and iconic structures throughout the country with four simple but powerful words, "India is polio free." The three-year achievement sets the stage for polio-free certification of the entire Southeast Asia region by the World Health Organization. The Indian government also plans to convene a polio summit in February to commemorate this victory in the global effort to eradicate polio.
