Club News

For the 5th straight year, RCVM fed the kids of the South Vancouver Neighbourhood House Daycare Program.  This year the event was held in three different venues, Salmon Stone Childcare Centre, Salmonberry Childcare Centre and Waverley School, all in the Southeast area of Vancouver.  There were approximately 200 children who enjoyed pizza, popcorn, cookies, chips and ice cream.  Thanks to Lestor Chou and Jeanette Wong and the staff of SVNH Daycare Centres for their efforts in putting the event together.  With Limbania Deza Lau, Pacifico Alegro and Marlon Patel.

Very busy weekend for RC Vancouver-Mountainview.  Observed World Polio Day on Friday at Vancouver City Hall followed by a Polio walk to Science World.  With President Rene Alcantara and PE Chris Loredo.  On Saturday, celebrated the 3rd Birthday of Rotaract HOPE 604, a club that RCVM helped revived after the pandemic.  With President Pam Tan Gervacio, PE Amen Shafiq, Pdg Drew Antrobus and DGE Dean Hsieh.
Members of RCVM made their way to China as part of District 5040’s Group Exchange program.  Headed by District Chair Grace Tsang, the first stop was at the HuaQiao Foundation.  This Foundation was started and Chaired by PSR (Past Special Representative) Frank Yih. They have funded various Rotary projects throughout the world.  The day ended by attending the club meeting with the RC Shanghai, the oldest Rotary club in China.  More Rotary club meetings in the coming days - Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Nanjing.  RCVM PP Bert Parungao, RCVM member Pat Parungao, PP Matt Caparas and spouse Chona Caparas represented the club in this special trip to China. — in Shanghai, China.
Every year on July 15, RCVM members are known as The Pizza Guys!  For the 5th consecutive year, we fed kids belonging to the South Vancouver Neighbourhood house summer programs.  This year, over 100 kids, 3 locations and over 12 pizzas.  Thanks to President Rene Alcantara and other members of RCVM for giving their time and effort to this event.  Thanks also to Lester Chou and Jeanette Wong of SVNH for making the event possible. With PP Matt Caparas, PP Ernie Ong, PP Bert Parungao, PE. Chris Loredo, Sec, Joel Castillo, Dtr. Limbay Lau, Dtr.  Carmela del Rosario.
