On January 6, 2025, our Club was honoured to host District Governor (DG) Sohail Nasser. He gave a presentation about the District vision and goals and shared information and updates with club members, reminding us that January is Vocational Service Month in Rotary. We were pleased to hear his message.

 

 

On Monday January 13th, 2025, we were pleased to host Kevin Troake, CEO for Concord in the City who presented on his organization and the Community Ability Initiative. Kevin shared his story of starting the organization which was very moving. Concord in the City provides opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities gain social, life and job skills. We heard about the residential summer camp and the coffee truck that helps provide meaningful skill development for adults with developmental disabilities. 

 

 

On January 20th, 2025 we celebrated Robbie Burns' birthday with a traditional supper, music, poetry, fellowship and fun! We were honoured to have Jeremy Federico join us. He piped the haggis in and delivered the the Robbie Burns poem, 'Address to a Haggis' to help us celebrate this national Scottish dish. Several Rotarians read poetry written by Robbie Burns. The food and festivities were amazing. It was a grand evening! 

 

 

 

 

 

On Sunday, January 26th 2025, Polio Plus Society members met over brunch at Aunty's Kitchen, a Pakistani restaurant, to enjoy food and fellowship. 

 

The food was delicious and the conversation was excellent! 

 

 

 

 

On January 27th, 2025, we hosted Akeem Gardner, CEO and Founder of Canurta Inc. He gave a talk about nature-derived therapeutics and complex diseases. 

 

We also inducted Isaac Hodoh to the Club. He received a warm welcome from members. Congratulations, Isaac! Welcome to the Rotary Club of Brampton!
