Treasurer’s report from LB Showalter: Income Sally reported we made $165 on the food for Escape fundraiser. LB reported gross revenues of $1800 (but expenses yet to be deducted for Escape staff. Our club received $3400 (District grant). Expenses We are spending $170/month for flag storage. Other Several people have dues outstanding – LB will notify. 
Sally Philipp named our fine bucket, “Fine” Stein, which Diana Wright donated. David Rogers is the first contributor for his cell phone going off during the meeting. Money can be put in if members have something good to announce.
Recent medical treatment caused Randy to announce that he was ‘radioactive’.

STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION DEVELOPS NEW MISSION AND VISION
Thirteen members of the Plano East Rotary Club met on Saturday, 4/28/18 to tackle our strategic planning process. The session was facilitated by Rotary District 5810 volunteers George Ritcheske and Peter McClellan.

The draft mission statement created by the group for the Plano East Rotary Club is: “To engage with our community through service, fellowship and fun to address local and global needs.”The vision statement says “The Plano East Rotary Club is a diverse, vibrant organization which assesses and responds to community needs.
Our club will spend the next two meetings refining the work of the committee and developing follow-on action items. Our meeting on May 10th will be presented by Ean Sullivan and will address “What is the Plano East Rotary Club doing now?” Ean will help us develop a list of all the current and planned rotary activities in which our members on involved.
Then, on May 24th, George Ritcheske will return and help us finalize our report as we discuss “what next?”Thanks to George, Peter, and all who participated in Saturday's session. These are exciting times for PERC where we are fine tuning what we are and what we are going to be.
President Elect KEN ROBERTS dinged us to order at 6:12 PM in the absence of PRESIDENT JAN who is off with husband EAN on a two week trip to Hawaii.

DIANA WRIGHT, guest of RANDY WRIGHT joined us later in the meeting after shopping across the street. 12 club members showed up.Principal Lynn Ojeda explained that The Plano Academy High School (Web Site) is a four year high school that operates on a “project based” teaching system where the “learners” are assisted by “facilitators” to achieve all of the academic requirements of other high schools in our system. Learners participate in all mandated testing and qualification programs. The school is located in an office building at 1700 Alma Dr. NE corner of Park and Alma.
