At Our Club October 20, 2020
President Krysta Logozzo Daniele captained a fun meeting today highlighting two major serious club initiatives: The Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus and the Kick Off to Rotary Radio Family Days 2020.  We also honoured several award recipients.  There was plenty of banter in the social half hour or more leading up to the formal start.

Our Zoom hosts were Kevin Holloway and Mary-Anne Mackett. Thirty-one members and guests attended.  We started with a rousing O Canada performed by Walk Off the Earth, talented multi instrumentalists (thanks to Mary-Anne if you liked it).

Acknowledgements and welcomes to guests Past Presidents Maria Hudolin and John Stewart, Rotoract President Mal Balachandran and Carolyn Oleksak. A special welcome to Past President Leslie Savitsky too!

Rotary Foundation Chair Jaro Kotalik delivered an excellent primer on Rotary Foundation which is one of the top 10 charities in the world.  You can see the Canadian RI site and ways to donate at
Donations can be made via 3 pathways were explained.  Speak to Jaro or see the RI ClubRunner for options such as the Annual Fund (preferred – funds are shared), Polio Plus or the Endowment Fund.  Jaro reviewed our club's enviable reputation as donors. World Polio Day was highlighted in detail including Jaro's own personal experience involving the disease in Prague.

Three of our Rotarians were honoured for Paul Harris Fellowship extensions and all three spoke eloquently . Thanks go to Doug Shanks, Jim Madder and Laurie Tulloch.
Next on the agenda:  a fine PowerPoint and equally colourful plea from Rotary Radio Day Chair Brian Walmark who is always a delight to hear.  He did a "Kick Off" to this annual fund raiser for the club.

Brian's positive messaging is kick-starting this vital annual drive and the Club is very indebted to Dougall Media who is assisting again. The Club thanks Brian for chairing again this year.

Our meeting ended with some personal announcements. Have a good week, stay safe!
