President elect Brent Boyko presided at the meeting and presented on his President Elect Training experience and the highlight takeaway aspirations he aspires to for his upcoming year.

Amongst the key characteristics of growing successful clubs are efforts to enhance member engagement while encouraging young and diverse people in recruitment and of course engaging them in meaningful project work. The strong fellowship element is indispensable to this end and will result in membership retention.

Members present immediately jumped into the discussion. They are invited to contact Brent with their individual questions, concerns and ideas about passionate activities to be followed up on.

 


HIGHLIGHT ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Andrei Rosario spoke on his passion promoting the Moose Hide Campaign including Campaign Day May 14th with the goal of ending gender based violence (primarily Indigenous) and honouring survivors and victims of residential school abuse. He handed out Moose Hide pins and hides as symbolic medicine to this effort.
  2. RYLA - this year’s training at Crookston, MN, is July 12th for 1 week. 4 applicants from Thunder Bay are attending. (contact Jim Madder).
  3. St. James Elementary School - PA Rotary partnership: Club liaison Art Warwick presented in detail the many experiential learning opportunities and amazingly successful and thankful students involved.
  4. Dew Drop Inn service upcoming - May 28th (Dave Silliman)
  5. Club Adopt A Road cleanup - May 23 (Saturday) at Current River Park area partnering with Salvation Army (Dave Silliman).
  6. Journey to Life - Cafeteria with United Way Thunder Bay event assisting the Shelter Village with Fort William Male Choir entertainment - June 8 at 7 pm (Albert Brule)
  7. Congrats to Andrei Rosaro, Andraya Colistro and Rupert Klein; elected as new Board representatives commencing July 2026. Many other members were donating similar energy to board involvement: the youth movement here is noted.
