"City Government in a Time of Crisis"

Dave King was elected to the Petaluma City Council in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. He received the highest number of votes in each election. Dave served as Petaluma’s Vice- Mayor in 2015.   Since serving on the City Council,  Dave has served as a representative for Sonoma Clean Power, the Sonoma County Water Advisory Committee, the Petaluma Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Youth Commission, Transit Advisory Committee, Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, and the Visitor’s Program and Downtown Association.

Dave has been a lawyer for 35 years and works at his law practice in downtown Petaluma. His practice is devoted to employment law and mediation of all civil cases. He is also a mediator and arbitrator on the panel at the Arbitration and Mediation Center in Santa Rosa.

Prior to serving on the Council, Dave served on Petaluma’s Youth Commission for five years and was the first adult Chair of that Commission.    Dave has coached youth softball, basketball, and soccer in Petaluma over a 15 year period.   He also served on the board of the Petaluma People Services Center (PPSC) for six years.   Dave was on the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce Board for eight years, was its president in 2005, and served twice as Chair of the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.   He has served on the Sonoma County Bar Association (SCBA) Board and on its Judicial Evaluation Committee.   He was also President of the Petaluma Democratic Club for five years.

Dave and his wife Lynn are long-time Petalumans and have raised two daughters here, Carrie and Katie.
