Post-Irma Insurance Update
Apr 04, 2018 11:59 AM
Category 5 hurricanes, changes in FL government oversight, increased traffic density, new housing, people moving to Sarasota County - all things that add to "risk" and may (OK, probably will) impact the cost of your insurance. This might not apply to you unless you own a home and/or drive a vehicle This pretty much means you'll be interested in Joe Sikora's April 4th insurance briefing for members and guests. Insurance is an annually recurring expense for most of us. If you don't pay attention you may pay too much, buy insurance you don't need, or be underinsured. Attending our April 4th meeting will help you sort things out and make good insurance decisions. But you have to be at the meeting and why not bring a friend? |

A Preview of Hope Kids 2018
May 23, 2018
Pam will give members a preview of the 10th annual Hope Kids Day this coming summer. She is working on adding more events and participating churches, with a goal to serve 2,675 children in need. Here's a Day4Hope video you will be interested in seeing. Pam Hawn is a Wife and Mom with a huge heart for her community. Throughout Pam’s life she has served with many outreaches geared specifically for the homeless…her growing up years in New York, developed Pam’s heart at an early age for the hurting and the lost. Since moving to Florida in 1981 her passion grew to help those who go without. Pam continued being involved with many organizations who shared her same passion for the homeless. In August of 2009 Day of Hope was birthed. A community outreach project that would serve 200 homeless children with all the basics to get ready for back to school. A project hosted by Pam’s home church and offered completely free to the families, but would require an army of volunteers and much funding. The project was a huge success: with over 200 volunteers and over $25,000 raised a Day of Hope was provided. Each preselected/prequalified child received a medical exam, dental exam/cleaning and floss treatment, resource for a free eye exam and reader glasses if necessary, haircut, school and family portrait, new backpack filled with all the needed school supplies, a care bag of personal care items, a $50 gift card to Bealls department store for new clothes/uniforms, a $25 gift card to Payless for new shoes, a personal safety id card from the sheriff dept, etc… meals were provided throughout the day and fun things to do like nail painting, interaction with the police and their motorcycles, the local fire department brought an engine and an ambulance. Many individuals and agencies were present to share invaluable resources. It was a day that gave parents peace and kids hope! |

SRQ Veterans, Fixing our backyard first
Aug 22, 2018
In 2010, William met the founder of SRQ VETS, Eddie Cacciola. Together, with a core of local veterans, they built this idea to use local resources to solve local veteran problems. And, in turn, to create an environment where veterans and all community members can work towards building a stronger home. Their grass roots mission was humble. It is their goal to fix our back yard first, and in the process build a model, so that we can fix our neighbor's back yard next. |
