***Special Location*** Southern Hotel
Jan. 06, 2015
***Special location*** to celebrate Twelfth Night and the official start of the Carnival Season, we are meeting at the Club's original gathering place, the Southern Hotel. Come early as we will start the meeting with a guided tour of the refurbished Southern Hotel at 11:45. Our speaker will be the Historian of the Krewe of Olympia to tell tales of carnivals past and the special events commemorating the Krewe of Olympia's 50th year of rolling through downtown Covington. Bring your personal stories about Mardi Gras and be prepared to share them Joara, our exchange student, so she is prepared for what's coming! PURPLE, GREEN, AND GOLD attire HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- if you have a spare Mardi Gras shirt (adult size small), bring one for Joara! Note that we are also going to hold a special Mardi Gras party for Covington Rotary during the Olympia Parade on Saturday, February 7th, at Campbell's Coffee & Tea, an excellent location for parade viewing. This family-friendly event will also be an early celebration of the 110th birthday of Rotary (Feb 23, 1905). |

Join us as we celebrate all of the incredible service we rendered to our club, to our district, to our community, and to the world! We have awards to present, achievements to recognize, and fellowship to engage in! This is an opportunity to bring our families along so they get to know us and each other. We build community by strengthening our friendships within the Club. Because we are not your granddaddy's Rotary Club, we have plenty of young children among us, so this year our installation banquet will include the kids. We'll have a special "children's table" with the teenagers in charge so parents don't have to find a babysitter or spend time cutting food into smaller pieces -- the teenagers will take care of those details. Our entertainment for the evening will _not_ be boring! In addition to celebrating our (very significant) achievements in the current Rotary year, we will also formally introduce the leadership team for the upcoming year. This will be the first time that a Past District Governor will serve as President of the Covington Rotary Club...in and of itself that's worth celebrating! When you RSVP, please indicate in the "comments" how many are in your party, each person's name, and the age of any children. You will be invoiced as follows: Club Member $25; Adult guest $40; children age 3-18 $15. Meal options will be presented at a later date as we finalize plans with Boule Bistro - by holding this on a Monday night, we will have the entire restaurant to ourselves for this special occasion. |
