  1. Donated $100,000 to the City of Morgan Hill for the completion of two city parks that include the Rotary Slide and Rotary Peace Bridge

 

  1. Provided $3,000 for disaster relief for Hurricanes Harvey and Maria and fire victims in the North Bay fires in 2017.

 

  1. Supported international projects to the tune of $11,300 from club funds from July 2017-May 2018, including

 

  • Equipment for maternity ward at Hospital Ramos Mejia, Argentina
  • 100 student uniforms for Orkeeswa School, Tanzania
  • Toilet block for Orkeeswa School, Tanzania
  • 1 ShelterBox
  • Replaced transmission in an ambulance that the club previously help to purchase for the Red Cross in Ameca, Mexico

 

  1. At the June BOD meeting WCS is requesting funding for two additional projects two additional projects are being requested; those two are noted on yellow in the attachment.

  1. Pooled funds with Area 6 Rotary Clubs, along with additional funds from the District 5170 and Rotary International to support $158,000 in projects around the world, including:
  • Drilling of clean water wells in 9 remote villages in Nigeria.  Morgan Hill is the International partner and Rotary Club of Ilorin is the Host Country Partner on this $41,000 TRF Global Grant project. 
  • Computers and other resource equipment for an after-school program that attracts troubled youth in an underserved neighborhood of Guatemala City, Guatemala.  Rotary Club of Gilroy is the International Partner, and Rotary Nueva Guatemala is the Host Country Partner.  Total project cost is $79,000
  • Medical equipment to support cleft palate operations performed in the village of Barrancabermeja, Colombia. The Rotary Club of Gilroy Sunrise is the International Partner, and the Rotary Club of Barrancabermeja is the Host Country Partner.  Total cost of the project $38,000.

     

  1. Established a working relationship with the Small Business Development Corp. to provide funding of $5,000 for training for aspiring business entrepreneurs. Program to start in the 2018-19 Rotary year.

 

  1. Set up new club committees to investigate opportunities to feed the hungry and provide vocational training support. More to come in the 2018-19 Rotary year.

 

  1. Arranged a 2018 Summer Exchange program with the Rotary Club of Ameca, Mexico. Status:

 

  • Del Foster has his 2 daughters approved by D-5170 to go (Molly and Siena); 
  • President Israel ("Yerno") has his daughter (Ximena) and Past Pres Marco ("Marquino") has his daughter (Nicole) ready to go (note: some paperwork is still needed at the Mexico end);
  • The Foster girls are planning to fly to Ameca on July 19, spend 5 days in Ameca in Yerno's house and then spend 5 days in Guadalajara in Marco's house; then all 4 girls fly together up to SJ, where they will spend 10 days living in Foster home.  Nicole and Ximena fly back home Aug 8.
