The eighth winner of the Gold Coast Police Officer of the Year Award was  Senior Constable Nick White.

Nick White has been stationed at the Gold Coast Traffic Branch for eight years as a motorcycle officer and is involved in several road safety campaigns.

In addition to those duties, he readily supports fellow officers at all manner of incidents and readily assumes command at those incidents, coordinating responses which have included the apprehension of offenders involving serious crimes related to burglaries, armed robberies and firearm offences.

As an example, Nick was one of the first to arrive on scene at the Robina Town Centre shooting earlier this year and established a forward command and communications upon his arrival to coordinate responding officers.  His leadership and professionalism to do this provided a solid foundation to senior incident commanders and detectives upon their arrival.

Nick is considered a role model to his colleagues and an excellent ambassador for the Queensland Police Service.  He was an official representative in the Wall to Wall Ride from Queensland to Canberra to remember police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
