Posted by Lars Henriksson, Chair, District 7070 Foundation Grants

We are now into the fourth month of the 2019-20 Rotary year.  Clubs are now learning about projects that qualify for a Global Grant.  However, in order to participate in the Grants program, the Rotary Foundation requires that your Club must be qualified.  Clubs can still become qualified by

  • having at least two members complete qualification training, and

  • submitting an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to the District.

Please, note that the qualification requirement also applies to Clubs that are administering Global Grants still in progress, e.g. a grant project approved last year but not yet completed. Get that Memorandum of Understanding signed and back to Lars, as soon as possible.

For the second year, District 7070 replaced the traditional Qualification Seminar that we used to conduct in February, with an on-line training program.  It consists of three modules, that Rotarians can take at their leisure.  For each module, there is a Quiz with nine questions.  To pass the test, a Rotarian must answer the three Quizzes, answering at least seven of the nine questions on each Quiz correctly.

The three modules are

  • Module 1 – The Rotary Foundation
  • Module 2 – Global Grants, and
  • Module 3 – District Grants

The modules can be found on the District’s website,

 https://www.rotary7070.org/sitepage/2019-grant-qualification-procedure-and-traini

Please, note that if you click on the small box in the upper left-hand corner of each slide in the modules, the ‘speaker text’ will appear.  It will give additional information on what is covered on that specific slide.

Clubs are encouraged to become qualified, even if they don’t have any immediate plans for a grant application.  It is a great opportunity to learn more about the Rotary Foundation and its grants program.  And who knows, when you find a project suitable for a Global Grant
