This was a great team effort by the Rotary Clubs of Oshawa-Parkwood and Whitby-Sunrise. It is always a pleasure to see two Clubs from District 7070 working together with Rotary Clubs and a District in India so that children in a rural area can get to school, especially in the rainy season. Thank you to THE ROTARY FOUNDATION GLOBAL GRANTS PROGRAM........

A good news post to wrap up 2018! The Rotary Clubs of Whitby-Sunrise and Oshawa-Parkwood participated in a  Rotary Foundation Global Grant in India. Our funds went to providing better access to education for Vandse children by purchasing a school bus (notice our clubs' names on the bus) and toilet facilities, computers and professional development training for teachers at the Government Higher Primary School, VANDSE in Kundapura, India.

The main purpose of this project has been is to provide a school bus to this school  to facilitate poor students to come to school .This will avoid students coming to school by foot from far away places through JUNGLES. The other basic need of the School is provision of toilet facilities to the students with all basic infrastructures. Including local village population, the residents of neighbouring villages can now send their children to this school.

The children who live in a very rural area of India will now be able to go to school year-round, even in the rainy season, because the bus will be there for them. The school will also be equipped with up-to-date washrooms. This project will bring much needed relief to a generation of aspiring students thirsting for knowledge. It will surely transform their lives in more ways than we can imagine.

A great team effort by the Rotary Clubs of Oshawa Parkwood, Whitby Sunrise, and the Rotary Clubs of Ganguli and Kundapura South in India with a special thank you to Dr Kris Sachdeva (RC Oshawa-Parkwood) Andrew Butterworth (RC Whitby-Sunrise) and to Ganesh Kamath of the Rotary Club of Ganguli, India , in District:3182, their District Rotary Foundation Chair Rtn.Sadananda Chatra,  District 3182 Governor. Rtn. G. N. Prakash, and our own District Rotary Foundation Chair Michael Bell , our District Grants Chair Lars Henriksson, and District Governor Mary Lou Harrison for being a big part of the Global Grant and making this possible.
