We need three (3) happy volunteers to Pack grocery bags for students at Littleton Public School's Centennial Academy of Fine Arts Education (formerly named Centennial Elementary). Littleton Rotary, in partnership with the school, is focusing on the needs of students whose families are struggling to provide sufficient food for their children. Volunteers gather at the storage shed behind the Centennial Lutheran Church to pack bags of snacks, fresh fruit and milk, canned vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, etc. In just one hour’s time, all bags are packed and ready to be delivered to Centennial Academy. Our current packing schedule is Friday mornings at 9:00 AM unless the children are off for a long weekend. The signup list will show the date and time for each week. In addition to the two volunteer packers there will be a lead person from the Arty's Team. Deliveries are done Friday mornings at 9:30 AM. Some moderate lifting is required. Typically, it takes about 45 minutes to load and drop off the food at the school. There is a separate signup list for deliveries. |

ESNA VILLAGE NETWORK - HOME BUILDING PROJECTS IN EL SALVADOR
May 07, 2024
Brief Summary of Presentation: Will mention what ESNA Village Network is and how I came to be a part of ESNA as well as how Rotary has allowed us to accomplish agricultural projects, sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene projects (composting latrines) that have improved standards of living of many rural communities, allowing us to help bring these communities up the poverty level. Will also talk about how ESNA provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture, learn the history of El Salvador and facilitate a personal engagement with the local communities we work with through our service learning trips. All of the Rotary projects we have collaborated in have changed lives for the better and is our goal to continue to do so for years to come.
Guillermo’s Bio – Guillermo – Born and raised in El Salvador, moved with his family (parents and a younger brother) to California when he was 10, where he quickly learned the new language and adapted well with the new culture. After completing his High School education and not been able to attend the School of his dream – Santa Clara University – Guillermo agreed to move back with his family to El Salvador when he was 20, where he immediately attended college. Started working with ESNA in 2009 and has continued to do so since then. Guillermo graduated from Law School in El Salvador in 2014 and is passionate and dedicated to helping those in need. He has learned a lot about his country and people since he got back to El Salvador in 2005 and has participated in several tourism courses. Guillermo has a 16-year-old son, is married to Veronica and lives next door to his parents. |

May 10, 2024 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
The May book selection is A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Lisa Bush will be our host at 1:30 pm on May 10th at her home at 9456 W Quarles Pl, Littleton, CO 80128. A Gentleman in Moscow immerses us in another era with the story of Count Alexander Rostov. When, in 1922, he is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, the count is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him a doorway into a much larger world of emotional discovery. Please sign up on-line or call LaDonna (303-995-2637) or Lisa (303-906-3200) to let them know you can come. Hope you will join us. Dana Arell and Jean Chernosky will co-host the next book club on July 19th. The July book will be West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. Thanks, LaDonna |
