Water project in TanzaniaLast night's vide shoot for our water project in Tanzania at Dedham Television with Jack Hoell and Mike Thorton from our club, and Richard Martorana, Bill Clunie, and Barbara Piper, from Engineers Without Borders. The video will tell the story of our efforts to create a sustainable source of clean drinking water for one village. We take for granted our ability to walk to the kitchen sink and twist a faucet to get a clean safe drink of water. Imagine having to drink from the same place that you do your laundry, take a bath and graze your animals. Imagine getting sick so that you can't work and your children getting sick so that they can't go to school. The citizens of this village don't have to imagine it. They live it every day. Help us to help them, by making a donation or by joining our Rotary Club! |

“Team Uncle Bill”
Why Am I Doing Something So Crazy?
I am raising funds for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) in honor of my father, Bill Powers, who was diagnosed with this rare blood cancer last spring. This past August he underwent an extreme treatment process in which he had to spend 28 days in isolation followed by months of at home treatment to avoid becoming sick with a weakened immune system. All along the way he main concern was for his wife (my mom) and our family. The entire treatment process he always had a smile on his face and the attitude that he “would be just fine.” I am certain that it is his positive attitude that has kept him moving.
3rd Annual Forward in Health Golf Tournament
In just over 2 months, on July 12, 2013, the 3rd Annual Forward in Health Golf Tournament will be held at the Winchendon School Golf Club, and we sincerely hope you will be able to join us. As you may be aware, this event has become a vital source of support for the Forward in Health organization and mission. Under the combined leadership of Dr. John Mulqueen and his wife Paul, a registered nurse, Forward in Health is dedicated to improving the health conditions and dignity of the people in and around Les Cayes, Haiti. Their vision is to make a long lasting impact on the health of the people who live in this area. To this end, they have undertaken the building of a health clinic in Fonde Fred, about twenty minutes from Les Cayes.
