South Eastman Rotary Club hosted its annual D.A.R.E luncheon at the start of the month.

Business leaders in the community came together to support our efforts to have the D.A.R.E program taught in Steinbach schools.

Those in attendance heard from the RCMP, School Administrators and students who have been through the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, on the important role it plays in educating kids on topics like bullying, peer pressure as well as drugs and alcohol.

A big thank you goes out to those who helped make the annual event a success including Ed Peterson for taking the lead in organizing the luncheon, Constable Kevin Wynn and Staff Sergeant Harold Laninga of the Steinbach RCMP, RCMP Auxillary Member Greg Schipper, Assistant District Governor of 5550 Dean Catton for his support and Fairway Ford for sponsoring the lunch.

At last report we were near the $10,000 mark for funds raised, just shy of our goal of $12,000.  We're all encouraged to do what we can to bring our amount raised, over and above this year's goal.
