Local Initiatives & Projects
Portage Rotary Club is committed to the local community in which it was founded and currently serves. Some of the more recent initiatives and projects include those below but is certainly by no means, a complete comprehensive list. The funds raised through fundraisers and events have gone towards the following projects:
 
  • 10 yr, $50,000 donation and commitment towards Rotary Republic of Manitobah Park, including new electronic scoreboard
  • Donation towards the creation of Rotary Disc Golf
  • The Crescent Lake Water Fountain
  • Donation to the creation and maintenance of various bike and walking paths
  • $10,000 donation towards the resurfacing of the Island Park tennis courts
  • Donation towards Rotary Park Playground at Island Park
  • $120,000 donation to Stride Place
  • "Buddy benches" and bike racks for local schools
  • Rotary  Duck Pond
  • Rotary Santa Claus Parade of Lights
  • Scholarships at local high school
  • Sponsorships for youth to attend Rotary camps and adventure programs
  • $10,000 donation to the Dufferin Villa Assisted Living Facility
  • Contributed towards new sound system for BDO Centre for the Community

International Initiatives & Projects
Portage Rotary Club also contributes towards various international initiatives and projects through programs provided by Rotary International. Some of these include:
 
  • Water wells in India
  • Hospital in Uraguay
  • Books for schools in Africa
  • School supplies across Central America
  • Shelter boxes in support of disaster relief
  • PolioPlus
  • Both inbound and outbound international exchange students
