ROTARY PEACE PARK PLANNING HAS BEGUN!

The Rotary Club of Kenora, in partnership with the City of Kenora and the MMIWGT2S Memorial Committee, will develop the Rotary Peace Park along First Avenue South. The park, which is still in the planning stages, will include a beautiful granite monument to honour MMIWGT2S, a peace pole with the words "May Peace Prevail on Earth" engraved in several different languages on it, and a flag pole. Other inclusions are being discussed at this time.
It is the hope that this park will be a quiet resting place for visitors to pause and reflect.
•There are more than 250,000 peace poles around the world in every country in the world – the closest one to Kenora is at St. Vital Park, installed by the Rotary Club of St. Boniface-St. Vital.
•Planting a Peace Pole is a way of bringing people together to inspire, awaken and uplift the human consciousness the world over.
• Peace Poles are now recognized as the most prominent international symbol and monument to peace. They remind us to think, speak and act in the spirit of peace and harmony.  Stand as a silent visual for peace to prevail on earth.
