  6. Committee Reports  :
    1. Catch The Big One (Don Dunnigan) – and future fundraising.  Debbie Sinclair wins $654 from the consolation prize today.  Our numbers are down – not many tickets being sold at the businesses in town, so we need to sell as Rotarians as bet we can.  Dennis will be back when he is able, and Margaret will then go back to selling at Otineka Mall.  Don mentioned that some people have scaled their ticket buying back for various reasons.  We may want to take a pause after this round of CTBO and think about other fundraising ideas. We’ve been busy with ticket sales for a number years – let’s also think about any ideas for passive fundraising ideas if possible. He mentioned another Rotary Club (Flin Flon) is doing a draw for a series of vacation destination.  They sell 600 tickets ($100 each) and in the end make about $20,000 on this fundraiser.  Crystal also mentioned this is a busy fund-raising time of year – many groups are selling as the Christmas season approaches, so sales may also pick up again later.  Gary Morrish shared a “fundraising calendar” and there was some discussion (jokingly…) about a Rotary Calendar with Rotarians featured as a fundraiser.

  2. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award):  12. Presentations :  Russell Thorne and Jim Lamontagne – Fall Prevention Program.  Russell and Jim shared information about the Seniors’ Fall Prevention Program which is run through the Wellness Centre.  This is Tuesdays and Thursdays (2 – 3 PM) and volunteers are needed to assist with instruction/spotting of participants who attend the clinics.  Any time is welcome based on what an individual’s schedule allows, and if any Rotarian knows of anyone who may be able to help, or anyone who may be able to use this service, please share the information.  Please contact Russell at rthorne@nrha.ca if you, or anyone you know, may need the service or may be able to volunteer.  An incentive is that each volunteer receives an exercise manual and exercise band, and the visiting and camaraderie is a positive experience.
