8. Committee Reports:
     a. Catch The Big One: Shirley Streit’s name was drawn – she had selected card #20 which was the 9 of Spades, and wins the

          $721 consolation prize. The game continues – No Frills and The Grub Box are covered for our ticket sales for the October 15

          draw.
9. Board of Directors Report:
     a. The Board and Alan Gibb will be discussing the current lunch/meal agreement with the Wescana after this meeting. An email

        detailing the format of next week’s meeting and for all future meetings will be sent after the Board meeting.
     b. Don McKay recently sent an email to Ally Buck about getting a Shelter Box, or a model, for The Pas and area trade show this

        coming May. Don will confirm once he hears back from Ally.
10. New Business :
      a. Rotary Social Event: We had discussed holding a Rotary social event/dinner towards the end of November. There was

          further discussion about a date (potentially December 6 or 7) and various options for locations (Clearwater Hall, Legion?,

          etc.), a potential driving service (eg. Swim Club, Basketball, etc.), and “entertainment” ideas. After some further discussion,

          it seemed that there may not be full interest across the Club for a  November event, but this will be discussed again at future

          meetings. There may be more interest, and there will be more planning time, to host an event in the New Year (eg. February).
       b. Grant Certification Seminars: – Don McKay will attend one of the Seminars. Monica confirmed she will attend one this year

           as well – and any other Rotarian who is interested in encouraged to sign up as well. The Seminars are offered on-line on the 
          following dates:
                     Tues, Nov 19 - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
                     Thurs, Nov 21 - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
                     Sat, Nov 23 – 9:00 am to 11:00 am
                     Wed, Nov 27 – 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
11. Unfinished Business :
      a. Patronage booklet – Don Dunnigan raised the idea of a coupon booklet again. After further discussion, it was decided we may

          not do this project prior to Christmas 2024 as members/community may need a break from selling. However, we will still

          need to discuss fundraising for the future $54,000 but will need funds for the payout to the winning ticket (currently over

          $28,000) Don Murphy indicated that this is like a regular wage, it becomes expected “income” and so perhaps we continue

          with this into future rounds, as the community looks for CTBO each week. Kent also said that status quo with the CTBO is
          pretty much a guarantee for income, and we can consider additional “service” opportunities such a Linkages and other events.

          Gary suggested that perhaps we consider partnering with other groups for some of the work necessary to run CTBO in future

          rounds. Rick mentioned the Kinsmen Bingo and how it has continued for many, many years and is a huge fundraiser,

          people do expect it – this is also a form of social activity for some. Don McKay mentioned that at the Rotary Presidents’

         Meetings, they do talk about various fund-raising ideas, and he will put together a list of potential ideas for consideration.
     b. Mural dedication date will now be Tuesday, October 22 at 3 PM – please wear your jerseys. All available Rotarians will meet

          at the Cenotaph right behind the mural at 2:45 PM. Monica will confirm the new date/time with the Opasquia times. Robin

          will contact Mrs. O’Toole (Barb) to let her know, and to find out more of the history of the original mural which Mike

          O’Toole painted - although we recognize that the family may not attend, as they have previously expressed that they

          appreciate the invitation, but that the mural is really not Mike’s artwork anymore. Robin will also seek information about the
          history of the mural and other murals in the community so that we have relevant information to share at the event. Kent will

          confirm the details for Gabrielle Swan from the DMC, and he will ask that she say a few words about the murals and

          community spirit, etc. Don McKay shared that we can use their amp if needed for any speeches at the event.
     c. Fish Fry 2024 – The details from this year’s fish fry will be completed and filed so that we are ready for next year if we host

         this event again. The Grub Box and Liquor tally of the event will be completed and added to the file. Doug advised that the

         total “profit” from this event will be around $5,000. Doug also mentioned that people continue to ask about the Lobster dinner,

         or a steak dinner option. Don Murphy reminded the Club that the numbers of people attending the event were shrinking last

         time the event was offered. The cost of the event/lobsters is considerably higher that it has been in the past, so the number may

         shrink further if the price gets too high. Members mentioned the idea of the “drive-by” lobster dinner which involves much

         less “person-hours”, and perhaps this is something we want to consider. Michael will check into lobster prices/supply from a

         contact he has in Mexico, and Gerry will also check with his brother-in-law in PEI. We’ve done this once in Spring, and once

         in November (and the profit has been around $7,000) – we’ll discuss further potential for a lobster “drive-by” and a date once

         we know about supply availability.
     d. UCN Linkages reception is today from 4 pm to 8 pm at UCN. We have been given permission to sell Catch The Big One

          tickets at the event as well, so please bring your tickets along.
     e. Meals on Wheels in November - Please provide Monica with a copy of your Vulnerable Persons Record Check if you have not

         done so already. The schedule is now filled by Members, but please also consider adding your name along with another

         Rotarian. Having two people makes things more efficient as the deliveries are made to each individual
         location.
12. Club Banners: Don McKay is continuing work on the banners, and has supplied all of the relevant information to the designers

      (including adding Rodeo information and the RCMP Musical Ride to the community-focused banner). The total cost will be

       about $1,600 for 4 banners. The Club decided that two banners will be sufficient ($800). These can be used for membership

       drives, advertising about Rotary at community events and any other promotional opportunity. The Club decided to have 3’ by

       7.5’ banners. Don asked that if anyone has photos from previous events (eg. Bill Bannock, lobster dinner, etc.), please send

       them to him and he can include some of these “historical” pictures as well.
13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) : The exchange student joined the meeting for lunch and to

      try on some winter clothes – to be sure he’s ready whenever winter arrives!
