Call to Order:

4. Birthdays and Anniversaries : November 19 – November 25 - None
5. Approval of Minutes : November 5 and November 12 minutes were approved.
6. Presentations : None
7. Correspondence :
a. Northern Health Region Holiday Luncheon – Friday, November 29, 11:30 AM at the Hospital Cafeteria. Rotary Members,
along with other volunteers, are invited for the festive luncheon (no cost). Please attend if you are available, and wear your
Rotary jersey.
b. Request from Peter Tonge to support the Honoring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) Program. Rotary International will match local
Club donations. Youth 15-17 attend this event in honor and education to learn about Indigenous peoples and traditions
(April 27-May 3, 2025 in Wolfville, NS). The Board will consider this request and determine if funds will be provided from our
Club.
c. Letter of Support requested for Kelsey Community School for new playground equipment. Monica offered that she will write
the letter on behalf of Don McKay.
d. Doug Long mentioned that Opasquia Times has asked if Rotary will buy a Christmas ad, and it was agreed
Motion: Gerry Miller/moved that for this year, our Club will buy the quarter page Christmas greetings ad.

e. Youth Exchange Program request for assistance, Rotary International Conventionearly bird pricing,
8. Committee Reports:
a. Catch The Big One. The Ace of Spades is still hiding. The ticket for Rikki Frost - Hunt was pulled. Rikki picked envelope #34,
which contained a Joker ,and won herself $949! The jackpot starts at $36,566 for the November 26 draw.
9. Board of Directors Report: None.
10. New Business :
a. Michael will continue to check in with his contact about the price of Lobster so that we can plan a drive through event in May.
It was discussed that at the moment, the cost is too high ($30) to run this event. We’ll keep monitoring this and perhaps if the
cost comes down, we may still be able to consider this for Spring 2025.
11. Unfinished Business :
a. Future meetings – It has been confirmed that we will continue to hold our meetings at the Wescana – this will be paid from
general funds for right now and a discussion in relation to how to cover the costs longer term will be held in the future.
Crystal mentioned that the Museum Board was considering this and was going to provide information about costs and storage
for us to use the Rotary room at the Museum; however, this is no longer necessary as the decision has been made to remain at
the Wescana.
b. Shelter Box. There is no new information, and this will be considered again when Don McKay is available, or if any member
knows where we may have the 3D printing done for the new models for display.
c. Fish Fry 2024 – the final report was given at the last meeting, and it was confirmed that the Club netted over $6,000 from this
event. Good job everyone.
d. Meals on Wheels in November. Brian Duncalfe has been covering the shifts when Don McKay is not available for Meals on
Wheels. Ken Kelly will cover Thursday this week, Doug Long will cover Friday, and Crystal will cover Wednesday. For next
week, Monica will cover Monday, Linda will do Tuesday, and the Club will determine who will cover the rest of the week.
12. Club Banners: Don McKay will let the Club know when more information is available and will share the new mock-ups if
additional photos will be included from some of our upcoming events.
13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) : Linda must have someone in place to host Joao for
days/nights of December 10 and 11 as she will be away, and returning on December 12. This will be on the agenda for next
week as well – someone needs to step up and host for these couple of nights. Further discussion will be required in relation to
the current exchange student (Joao) to determine future hosts as well. A broader discussion of the Rotary Exchange Student
program will be needed.
14. Installation of New Members: None.
15. Club 100 Anniversary (2029) PERMANENT AGENDA ITEM:
Water front improvement project? River Walk Plaques?
16. & $$$ Sargent at Arms Next Week: Don Murphy won the “pot” with the Ace of Spades, and will be the Sargent at Arms next
week.
17. Sun, Dec 1 – Rotary Seniors’ Christmas Tea. Linda confirmed that our original Santa has left town, and that we do have another
Santa (Dave Rusk) who will step up and be Santa. Crystal Morrish mentioned that a Santa Suit could possibly be
borrowed from another group. The choir is confirmed and all other arrangements are in place. Kent Whaley (by
acclamation) was “voted” in to be the emcee again for the Christmas Tea.
Fri, Dec 13 & Sat, Dec 14 – Bill McDonald Memorial Basketball Tournament. Don Murphy confirmed that all food has been
ordered, Cook and Cooke has confirmed their contribution of bottles of water and trophies, and Don is waiting for
confirmation from DMC for financial assistance with the costs for referees. Crystal Morrish is now confirmed as
Secretary for DMC, and she confirmed that December 11 is the next meeting, so a decision will be shared on this
request after this meeting. Doug will assist with making sure all of the bills for the tournament are paid.
Assistance on Friday night is needed for serving pizzas, etc., and there are enough Rotary volunteers to help with
this task.
18. Four-Way Test: Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
