CTBO – Draw 1 of Round 7 made is TODAY Florrie Bennet’s ticket was pulled from the drum to start off Round 7. Her ticket had number 37 on it which resulted in Florrie winning the jackpot of about $5 700.00 when the ACE OF SPADES was revealed! Catch The Big One Draw Master Dunnigan’s face said it all. iii. Facebook site – a. Rules were posted as a link because Don McKay thought that opening made the image larger when
opened. The Round 1 Draw 1 game board was posted as an image but was poor quality as the original was a picture versus a scan. Businesses selling, on line sellers etc was posted with the game board. Information in the “businesses, etc” paragraph
needs to be posted as an image so the entire thing is visible without having to click on the “more” option.
iv. POS system – The club has two POS systems from Chase which deposits directly to the Rotary account. It is believed that Dennis has been using one but the location of the other is unknown. Gerry Miller may have it. Don McKay uses an item called Square which he has purchased himself. He also helps the Girl Guides by selling their cookies so direct deposit to the Rotary account would not work for him. The Chase POS terminals deposit directly to the rotary account but require an iPhone. Both systems would need to paired to a user’s phone initially. There was discussion about costs of each. There was discussion about the necessity for a cashless option to purchase. It was mentioned that you access a different group of people. Both the square and the Chase terminals are wireless. It was decided to use the Chase terminals for a year and track sales using them
b. Public/Private – There was request to change the Facebook site from Private to public to make it visible to a wider audience. This was discussed at the meeting but Crystal’s response to an email Don McKay had sent asking about the request is a better explanation as to why we should not so this.

“The current group we use was originally intended for club members only, then our public page was shut down by Facebook (Someone reported us as an illegal gambling page, and I (Crystal) tried to get the page reinstated by sending copies of our lottery license/number, but they wouldn’t budge). The only other option is to start a new public page/group, however we run the risk of having someone report it again. When I looked into it, it seemed that a private group is our best option considering the majority of our posts are in relation to the draw. We can also “screen” who is in the group to make sure they are legitimate profiles.”
c. Don 2 was going to go to Northernstitchworx after the meeting to see when Round 8 Draw 1 tickets could be printed by. It was learned after the meeting that we can distribute tickets for Round 8 Draw1 on March 18th with Draw 1 happening on
March 25th (March 25th to be confirmed).

b. Evening meeting once per month – How would CTBO work? The club approved a motion to have one evening meeting per month. The evening meeting would replace and not add to the noon hour meeting. An evening meeting might allow people who work to attend a meeting that they cannot currently work into their lunch time. The decision to make this a permanent item or not will be considered later on. Until then it is on a trial basis with the first meeting to take place sometime in April. The date of the evening meeting would be stated in the agendas. It was pointed out during the meeting that CTBO draws and ticket distribution would need to be done a bit differently on days that we have evening meetings.
c. District Leadership Seminar – Friday, March 21st to Sunday, Mar 23rd If you are interested in attending let me know. I will be attending virtually.

d. Name tags – I have asked Devin Burrell at Northernstitchworx about getting a rotary branded hat touque. There are numerous colours available but he will complete an order of a minimum of four touques due to set up time for a cost of $150. If anyone else wishes to get a touque with the club logo let me know. I assumed that there may be a comparable minimum sized order for name tags. There probably isn’t now that I am thinking about it but if you want to replace your name tag for some reason contact me. A name tag for new members is supplied at club cost whereas a name tag to replace the one you have a second spare I am assuming is at personal cost. If you are interested in getting a name tag I need to email how you want your name spelled and what you wish the tag to say about out. Example – My first name tag said RETIRED EDUCATOR which is not
how I see myself these days. I will leave it to you find out what the new one says
e. Canada Day – Kent talked to Ed and asked if he was interested in doing fireworks here and he is. Cost last year was

$16 000.00. Committee discussion about moving back to the riverfront which Ed was firmly against. Randy Manych was mentioned at the club meeting as an option. Deborah Howell (Canada Committee chair) has contacted a company called Archangel Fireworks Inc (AFI) and asked about a quote. They came in comparable in price and show duration to Ed’s quote. Kent mentioned that we will need to know what the other group would need in terms of security staff, security fencing and any other requirements needed. Deborah has applied for a $20 000.00 government grant. The cost of fireworks and whatever else would come out of this money. Once money has been allocated to various costs, we will know how much goes towards fireworks and therefore how much fundraising we need to do. A suggestion was made to ask both Ed and AFI to submit a quote so the committee can decide who they will award the show to.

unknown at this time but there is a reduction of $100 from the cost for early registration by March 31st. It was suggested that the club could staff the front door taking $$$ for admission. Part of this includes selling 50/50 tickets which we would get half of the profit. The Trade Show runs from Thursday, May 8th (5 to 8), Friday, May 9th (noon to 8) Sat, May 10th (10 to 1). The club decision seems to be staffing the front booth but will confirm this. In the meantime I will ask pursue the application for this and ask if we are obligated to staff the gate for the entire event.

a. Changing process for pictures of donation receipt – The four Contempra banners have been received and were on display for all to see. They have been received favourably. Our banners have a QR code which takes you to our current Facebook site which is another reason not to change that. I noticed on the Community Support banner that I was in all the pictures. I guess that this makes as sense as I am the current present but for the future I will do the invite of some to receive the cheque but I am asking that different people from the club actually hand the cheque to the recipient(s). I feel that this is one way that we can show that we are the diverse and inclusive organization that we aspire to be. Wear a Rotary branded shirt to the meeting as it is important that we display the Rotary brand in the pictures as well.
