Call to Order:
CTBO – Week 17 Draw is today.

8. Committee Reports:
a. CTBO – the Ace of Spades was not found today, so the game will be suspended over the summer and begin again in the fall. The next draw will be on September 10, 2024. The winnings today was $872 – Jodie Foster won. We will go with 1000 tickets per week for the first few weeks in the fall, and then determine if we will print more tickets for the draw as the prize increases and tickets sales are higher.
9. Board of Directors Report: There will be a Board meeting immediately following this meeting, and a report will be provided next week.
10. New Business:
a. Board members for July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2025 – all current Board members have agreed to stay on, and the Club agrees.
11. Unfinished Business:
a. Canada Day –
i. Draft agenda has been sent out for the next meeting this Thursday, June 27th at Town of The Pas office at 2:00 for final arrangements to be made. Don McKay is assisting with the choir (French/English/Cree if possible will be arranged).
ii. Tent set up/Take down – We will need to check with Jim Berscheid (Val suggested sending him an email) about his tent. 8:30 Monday, July 1st we will need assistance to set the tent up. This coming Sunday at noon Doug Long needs assistance at 108 Sailboat Road to move tents so they are available for Canada Day events as well.
b. Mural – John Ellenberger will be bringing the mural updates back to The Pas and installing them this coming weekend. Once the mural is completely finished (it will be about a week before all panels are finalized), we will arrange for an event with the O’Toole family and theDestination Marketing Commi ttee and any other relevant attendees.
c. Social Event
i. The Rotary BBQ, Bocce Ball and Paul Harris Awards will be held on Saturday, July 13th at the Airport Hall, Bocce Ball at 3, Meal at 5:30.
ii. Please let Monica know if you will be attending, guest name if applicable, bocce participants, and advise of any allergies. Monica circulated the current attendance list for information, and asked members to update information as necessary.
iii. Who contacts guests: Patti Banks (Rick), Lee Manych (Monica), Shirley Dickens (Don 3), Bev McTavish (Monica), Jan McDonald (Rick) Darrel Dushanek (Monica), Wilf Lamontagne (Monica), Marcia Novo (Monica), Umberto Willner (Don McKay), Heather McKenzie (Don McKay)
d. Cathy Lipscomb did an awesome job. The Pledge Drive successfully raised $5,716.50 over two days at the radio station and Uptown Mall. Monica reminded Rotary Members and others that they can continue to promote the initiative and welcome contributions—she plans to remind people on her Facebook page, and others are encouraged to do the same if they wish.
e. MBCI Grad – Preparation is set for Wednesday, June 26th at 10:00 PM (?), and the Grad Breakfast will be on Thursday, June 27. Gary has reminded those assisting to be at the Elks Hall by 12:30 AM. Robin, Ken, Val, Gary (and Sharon), Kent, and Doug will be helping with the Grad Breakfast.
f. Patronage Booklet – This potential project requires further discussion no later than our September meetings to decide if we will create a booklet for "Christmas sales" and a fundraiser following the CTBO, which may coincide if the Ace of Spades remains elusive.
g. Clearwater Lake Marathon – Michael announced that the Marathon is all set. The website has significantly improved this year after its setup—the posters are displayed, and information is being circulated on Facebook. Michael has acquired the necessary fire extinguishers and shovels to complete the trail preparations, with Blair Patience also contributing. Support for the marathon through contributions is appreciated. Rotary will manage the tents and breakfast, and assistance will be needed to set up the tents on Saturday. The Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, July 21. Michael also mentioned that the Clearwater Lake Hall has a revitalized Executive team with several projects in mind. A funding application from Rotary may be forthcoming to help with round tables. They are also considering adding ball pits, a baseball diamond, and a screened-in porch on the north side. The Clearwater Hall has many events lined up for weekends this summer, which is a positive sign.

h. Sam Waller Museum - Robin Reader shared with the Club a concern about an incident by the museum where two of the staff were verbally assaulted, and their car was kicked/damaged. He asked that we support the museum as much as possible, drop in and meet the staff. There are 3 “new” employees there and a student employee – support and care will go a long way to helping work through this experience and knowing people will support the work as well.
12. Club Banners: Further information will be provided when available.
13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award): A host family is urgently needed for August to welcome an exchange student arriving from Mexico. Multiple families will host the student during their stay, but the initial host family must be confirmed soon to ensure a warm welcome and a well-organized schedule.
