5.  Approval of Minutes : June 11^th, 2024 – Approved.

           6.  Presentations : None

7. Correspondence : Don McKay had shared an email for information from Walter Hughes regarding the Ghana Water Project.  The project was fully funded                                  by 164 clubs from 36 states, 8 provinces & 90 districts located in 8 countries. The project set up 50 new wells, 4 small town water

                        systems and 385 microflush toilets. There are loans for more wells and household toilets and funding support for 20 farmers and small                                                 businesses.  The budget of $239 000 is jointly hosted by Rotary Clubs of Obusa, Kumasi, Accra, Achimota and Wa in District 9104 in Ghana.

                          a. CTBO – Don Dunnigan summarized ticket sales and winnings for last week – 831 tickets were sold.  McKenzie Thomas’ name was drawn, and he                               had chosen #54, which was the Eight of Hearts, so he won the consolation of $831 – the Ace of Spades is still hiding.  Let’s try to sell all 1000                              tickets for next week, as this will be our last week of ticket sales until September 2024 when the game will continue, if the Ace of Spades is not                            drawn on June 25.

            9. Board of Directors Report:  The Board will meet next week and a report will be made at the following week’s regular meeting.

                           a. Board members for July 1^st, 2024 to June 30^th, 2025.  It was noted that if the current Board members are interested in continuing, and there are                                     no objections to that, then we will move on to the next Rotary year with the same Board members who are currently in place.

                          a. Canada Day – A draft schedule was sent out. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, June 20^th at A & W at 2:00 PM, so updated information                                     will be provided after then to ensure everyone has the current and final information for the Canada Day festivities. Doug Long reminded the                             Club that we offered two tents at no cost, so we will need Rotary members to be available for set-up at Devon Park the day before the events.

                          b. Mural – As far as Doug Long is aware, the mural will still be here in The Pas as scheduled (end of June) – he will connect again with the artist to                             ensure nothing has changed.  He reminded the Club that the artist indicated he will need to do some of the final work on-site here in The Pas.                                Therefore, it will likely be July sometime when we plan the “unveiling” with the O’Toole family, Destination Marketing Committee and any                                      others involved.

                          c. Social Event

                                   i. General -Saturday, July 13^th, Airport Hall, Bocce Ball at 3, Meal at 5:30, meal by Berscheids.  Rick and Blaire will ensure the lawn is cut prior to                                the BBQ and Bocce Ball event.

                                  ii. Please let Monica know if you will be attending, guest name if applicable, bocce participants, and any allergies.

                                    iii. Those Members noted below will contact the following individuals to invite them to the BBQ/Bocce Ball day……..

                                                Don McKay will be ordering the awards and will advise when they are available – if they are all here prior to the BBQ, recipients will be invited.  It was noted that Heather and Umberta will not be presented on July 13, as Keith Young (nominator) is away that weekend and it was agreed that it is important for him to be there when the awards are presented.  Keith will also provide the presentation notes for both recipients.                        

                          d. The Workplace Pledge-a-Thon gathered approximately $5,700 – Rotarians are asked to continue to share the information and let people know                         that contributions can still be made directly to The Workplace, or electronically to tpahd@mymts.net.   It was also noted that if they wish to run                                     a pledge-a-thon again in the future, the process and documentation is now set up.

                          e. MBCI Grad– Gary confirmed that there were enough volunteer Rotarians to assist with the prep and serving of the Grad Breakfast.  He mentioned                           there are about 60 grads expected, and it was suggested to cut back on numbers from what was prepared last year (100).  Keith has committed                           we can use his griddle, and Robin Reader confirmed we can use his large hauler to cook inside if necessary.  Preparation crew for Wed, June 26^th  Grad Breakfast is asked to please be at Elks Hall for Thursday, June 27 at about 3:00 am - 6:00 am.  Jennifer Luce is the contact person for Grad.

                           f. Patronage booklet. This will be discussed at a later meeting – no later than early fall to promote, prepare and sell prior to Christmas if we agree that this is a go for our next fundraiser.

                            g.    Radio spot – Kristi has agreed to do the Rotary radio spot tomorrow morning, but will need notes for what to share as well as the detail on the CTBO and any other news to share.  Thanks to Kristi, and Monica will ensure Kristi has the information that she needs to help with this task.

                            h.    Museum Request.  Robin Reader advised the Club that the Museum is submitting a request for upgraded chairs, they have gathered $3,000, and  will ask our Club for $2,500 towards this upgrade.  The application for funding has been completed and will be brought to our Board at our meeting next week.  Don Dunnigan asked if someone from the Museum Board would be willing to sell tickets for CTBO, and Robin said he would check into this and pass the information along.

           12. Club Banners:  Tim reported that he and Don McKay have spoken about this and will follow up with the supplier which Connie mentioned, and with the new store in The Pas to see if they are able to have these banners made.

           

            13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) :  There is still a need for a host family for August for an exchange student travelling to The Pas this year.  Please consider hosting for a short time and share the information to others who may be interested.  Julia reported we have 4 students going to RYLA this year.  She also confirmed good news that the St. Theresa Point student has been sponsored by other Rotary Clubs, so no funds are required from our Club.
