7. Correspondence : No correspondence.
8. Committee Reports:
a. CTBO – Kent Whaley reported that there were 887 tickets sold, and confirmed that we will take a break from ticket sales for July and August if the Ace of Spades is not found before the end of June.
9. Board of Directors Report: None.
10. New Business:
a. Board members for July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2025. This will need to be confirmed over the next couple of meetings.
b. Rotary recognition for June 21st Indigenous Day. This is an important event and we do need to determine how we can be involved and assist each year for this Day.
c. Murray Harvey passed away recently, and it was agreed that any Rotary member who is available/interested to attend will wear their Rotary jersey to the service on Saturday. It was also agreed that our Club will donate $500 in Murray’s memory.
d. Robin Reader brought forth a Rotary flag from Central Wisconsin Rotary from his recent trip, and presented this flag to our Club.
11. Unfinished Business:
a. Canada Day
i. General – Don McKay will provide notes from future meetings to ensure we are aware of what is scheduled. We do need two tents for Canada Day events – it was agreed that Rotary will donate our tents and set them up for the events. A few details still need to be confirmed, but there will be the parade, flag raising, legion events, face-painting, Kinsmen BBQ, museum open house and a variety of dignitaries will be present in the community during this time. It was also mentioned that the hospital (and other groups) have asked about our donating previous flags when we put up a new flag, and it was agreed that we would donate the flag, but that the receiving group will need to put the flag up at their location.
ii. Fireworks – we will have the necessary contributions for a show at $15,000 and this has been confirmed with Ed Demchinski so that the fireworks can be ordered and the show planned. Blair mentioned that he will get a better flag for the grandstand, and Ed has asked if a Rotarian could be available to thank the sponsors at the end of the show at the Ag Grounds. There will be a singing of Oh Canada prior to the fireworks show.
b. Mural – Doug Long advised that the painter (John Ellenberger) if doing the work and has been having a few issues with weather (working outside to get the colors right) and with paint grade, but the mural will be here around the end of June. Some of the final work/touch ups will need to be done once the mural is up. Kent noted that we should make arrangements for a ceremony with the O’Toole family and Destination Marketing Committee when the “new” mura is unveiled. We will need to determine when this will take place, as it is not guaranteed to be completed at the end of June.
c. Social Event
i. General -Saturday, July 13th, Airport Hall, Bocce Ball at 3, Meal at 5:30, meal by Berscheids. Please let Monica know if you will be attending, any guest names if applicable, bocce participants and any allergies for the caterers.

d. Cathy Lipscomb – The Pas Association for Human Development
CJAR Pledge Drive on Thursday, June 13 & Friday, June 14 and pledges at the Uptown Mall on both days for noon to 2 PM.
e. MBCI Grad– Preparation Wed, June 26th, Grad Breakfast Thurs, June 27 at approximately 3:00 am - 6:00 am, 8 people to staff, Located at the Elks Hall. Contact person is Jennifer Luce and we will confirm that there are a number of Rotarians who will be available to assist with the breakfast.
f. Patronage booklet. This will be discussed prior to October to ensure we can have the booklets ready if this is an agreed fundraiser for December/January.
12. Club Banners: Contact in Winnipeg (Jeff at Contepra Signs), or preferably the new “paperworks” folks. Connie confirmed this is Devon (Burrell) but not completely certain if they are ready to take on all of the printing needs. Don Mckay will look into this further and report back when additional information is available.
13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) :
a. There is still host family needed for August for an exchange student coming to The Pas from Mexico. Please consider hosting or connecting with families you know who may be interested.
b. The Club discussed the potential RYLA participant from St. Theresa Point and agreed that we would sponsor the student’s fees to attend RYLA and Monica will check back with Jorrel to determine if others (including the community) may be willing to sponsor the remaining costs.

Wed, July 31 – RCMP Musical Ride. Val Berscheid reported that the Ride is confirmed for The Pas July 31. $20 per person will be charged. They will make arrangements and necessary modifications to house the horses in the quonset and will order the required feed and other supplies to host this event. The Ag Society will determine who will be VIPs Entertainment 6-6:30 and the ride will be at 7 PM. It is expected there will be 21 horses for the Musical Ride in The Pas and the required vet services will be arranged through Swan River. The chucks and chariots will take place during rodeo weekend (August 15-18), as well as bull-riding will take place this year.
